Just a quick question! My church requires that I use their specific organist and the cost is $300. Should I budget a tip as well? Fiance and I disagreed on this.
My cocktail hour musicians are only $250 and they’re playing twice as long.

Errr…I dunno. Since they essentially are forcing you to use a specific musician, I’d be inclined to roll it in with the rest of the church fees and forgo a tip for that reason. I mean, the guy got a no-bid contract to do this wedding–that falls outside of tip parameters, at least IMO.

Nope. I’m a cantor in my church and neither myself nor the organist (that I know of) have ever gotten tipped. I would feel weird if someone tipped me. They already paid me!

My church is also requiring a $300 fee for the organist, so I think it’s pretty standard. Like PP said, I wouldn’t tip.

I think the best “tip” if you liked her would be to tell her that you enjoyed the music. I love it when I get those comments. Makes me feel like I did something to add to their day.
