Hello all!  My wedding is this saturday in Richmond, VA and I have posted on here a few times about the flowers my fiance Daniel & I have made for our wedding.

I can proudly say that we finally finished everything a couple of weeks ago.  We have folded over 1,400 origami roses for our wedding flowers.  We made  7 red boutouineres, 5 ivory bridesmaid bouquets, my bouquet (red) & a tossing bouquet (red), the cake topper (red), and 14 centerpieces (all red).  We also made 150 single red roses for each place setting at the reception.  Every single fold was worth it-they turned out amazing and I can't believe I'll be married in 5 days!

Our wedding colors are ivory and brown.  We chose to do the red roses because they just looked amazing in red.  We used handmade italian paper to fold these, that we purchased at an art store that was closing.  We bought all they had left.  The paper is by Fabriano Ingres.

Origami has always been something we have done together.  (We actually met in highschool, in Japanese class of all places.)  Daniel has been folding origami since he was a small child, so it pretty much comes naturally to him.  When Daniel proposed to me in May of 2006, he laid out 519 origami cranes in a path, with rose petals.  At the end of the trail, he was there on one knee.  (519 because our dating anniversary was May 19th)  Little did we know we'd be folding so many roses as flowers for our wedding.  We didn't decide on the idea until earlier this year, back at the end of March, and in early April our first topiary centerpiece came to life.

Anyway I hope this DIY idea inspires many of you brides out there.  I will definitely share pictures of the roses in their full glory at the wedding after I return from the honeymoon.  Thanks for looking and never doubt your DIY skills!!
