I’m using nuvaring.  I had a problem with nausea on the pill.

I like the ring b/c you only have to remember it twice a month, once to put it in, once to take it out!

I have heard good things about Nuva Ring.  I am going to get a bit graphic here, but one thing to keep in mind with it is your FI’s “size”.  I have heard that some guys are too big.  Embarassed  Just something to consider.

I have the copper IUD (Paraguard) and I absolutely love it!  You might also check out this post.  It’s a popular topic so it has come up quite a bit.

While I hate the pill, I’ve seen too many of my friends getting pregant while using Nuva Ring or the patch. My sister in law has done the shot, but has gained over 30 pounds while on it. I’ve been on the pill for about ten years, on and off, and most likely will stay that way until we decide to get started on kids.

I miss the NuvaRing!!! FI gets really grossed out by the whole idea, but I loved that I never had to worry about if I forgot to take the pill or not. I just wish they would make it possible to have a lighter/shorter period with NuvaRing…

Some guys complain that they can feel the NuvaRing while others think it is just an extra sensation. I guess it just depends on the guy.

I tried the patch…yea, I hated it. It came off like once a week and my doctor said that wasn’t supposed to happen. I just didn’t like the patch at all.

I am on the Depo Provera shot, and I have been for about 5 or 6 years now. I have really loved it. I actually took a break for a few months and realized how much I HATE getting a period and the cramps, so I just went back and got my shot last week. No periods and getting the shot every 3 months is way more convienent for me. I am like you, I forget very easily about pills.

As for the weight gain, yes a lot of people complain that the shot causes that, but I have talked to a lot of doctors about it and they have all said that there is <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>nothing in the shot that causes weight gain. BUT there is a side effect in a lot of women that causes excess hunger/food cravings, so if you resist eating more than usual and continue exercising there shouldn’t be any weight gain.

I totally advocate the Nuvaring! I love being on it. I had issues with my “drive” while on the pill, and I ended up with two periods a month on it, so my doc suggested the ring. My man doesn’t always like it when he feels it (if you know what I mean) so I pop it out right before and put it in right after. We use condoms with it 50% of the time, but only because we have a big future and have no room for babies at this point!

I love Nuvaring.  You don’t have to think about it (it even comes with stickers for you to put on your calender so remember when to take out/put in).  I feel much better on it.  My FH has never said anything about feeling it (even a previous partner that was -umm- very big – did not notice anything).  The feeling could be linked to where you’re placing it, I guess.

When I started bc I knew I would not remember to take pills, so I started on the patch. It was horrible. I had massive headaches all the time, randomly. Plus the patches always fell off or got loose. They don’t stay on well.

Finally I switched to the NuvaRing and love it. No more headaches and so easy to use. If it is uncomfortable for your partner, you can take it out during intercourse, as long as it’s not out for more than 3 hrs.

Ultimately you should talk to your gynecologist to figure out what works best for you. And if something doesn’t work, change it. There are many options out there.

I don’t know if this helps… but I have my cell phone set to remind me to take my pill… It goes off at the same time every night and then I hop up and take my pill before I forget… It has kept me from every missing a pill…
