Hey ladies (and gents?) We did our research and knew what we wanted for photography, and booked our photographer right away (didn’t really compare and contrast rates, as style was more important than budget to us). In any case, after the fact, I’m curious as to what other photographers charge? LOL, probably should have done this before, but when you want it, you want it. Trying to figure out if we could have negotiate with our photographer… In any case, we’re paying $4350 for 8 hours (with travel as he is coming in from Montreal), 1 photographer, DVD of hi-res images. I think it is on the higher end of the spectrum, but we feel photos and albums are the only thing we’ll have to remember the day by – it goes so fast, right?? We’re doing everything else on a bit of a budget (total wedding budget is 25K)… anyway, wondering what we could have paid? Our photographer does a lot of film photography, fine art style (I’d compare him to Jonas Peterson or Fer Juaristi – with whom we inquired but with travel it would have come close to 10K… about half our total budget).

I’m in Toronto. That’s pretty average

I’m getting married in Ottawa and using a photgrapher from Kingston. We have him for 12hours and a second photgrapher for the a photobooth and also receive a hi-res DVD for $1500. I did A LOT of comparing for both price and quality and found it can literally range from $1200-$5000. The less expensive photographers seemed to be based out of smaller cities/surrounding areas. Currently I live in Winnipeg and a few girls I work with are getting married and their photographers are $3000-$5000. So yours sounds fairly average. If this photographer is who you want I’m glad you get to have him capture your amazing day. 🙂

I paid $1,100 for 1 photographer for 8 hours, a second shooter for 4 hours, plus a 2 hour engagment photoshoot. Her name is Kym and I found her on Kijiji, she lives in Barrhaven, and she’s amazng!
I’m so nervous infront of the camera and hate having my picture taken/being the center of attention. She made me feel relaxed and made the whole process super painless.
Her website is http://www.kymberliedozois.com and if you go on her facebook and see more pictures. I’m so happy with how my pictures turned out and would recommend her to anyone. I know her packages next year are a little more expensive, but she is AWESOME.

Just if you were wondering the photographer I posted about above is Rob Whelan. His website is http://www.rob Whelan photography.com
He had a special on at one of the wedding shows in Ottawa and we booked him shortly after the show.
He was absolutely great!
