Ugh I just went through my second cycle being off birth control (was only on it for two years ago) and it was terrible! I was cramping like crazy and my face is a mess!! I was on a low hormone pill and my periods were only 4 days and super light. Now they are a full seven days and pretty heavy :(
I have horrible PMS off the pill. However, when I was pregnant my skin was awesome and I had no cramps, crankiness, etc...pregnancy is awesome assuming you don't have morning sickness much or heartburn. Everything else is manageable!
I haven't gone off the pill yet but I was on continuous BC for the past year and a half and when I had a period last month, I was not happy at all.
Same here....if it makes you feel better, the first month was by far the worst (so far at least...)---I'm three months in now and it does seem to be leveling out (breakouts WAY better). Some of it may just be your body recalibrating off the hormones.
my second or third month was awful - crazy bad acne - then it cleared up. it sucks!
Yep. I take vicodin when I do have a period and I start taking advil for a whole week before--if you take advil before you start, it does help. I only have one every 3-4 months or so but it's pretty painful and miserable. As far as my skin, i just have to wear more cover up that week =(

ugh, yes! My cycle has been all out of whack since stopping birth control last October. My cramps did suck (I had forgotten what real cramps felt like!) and my last period lasted almost 2 weeks if I include the spotting! I'm hoping that it's all getting regulated now. My skin has been terrible, even worse than when I was a teenager, but this month it seems to be doing a bit better. Still not as awesome as being on the pill, but definitely better, so that's why I'm hoping things are finally getting under control :p Oh, and my sex drive is finally back lol
I've been thinking of going off the pill (have been on it for 10 years!) and am hesitant for this very reason! :(
Oh no, now I'm scared. Before I was on BC, I had periods for 5-7 days so heavy, I was basically useless. I'm finishing up my last pack right now as we are planning to TTC in August. I am so not looking forward to this happening again. I was hoping the Dr. was right when she said it may just have been my teenage hormones but now I'm not so sure.

In the exact same boat. Am in the middle of my 3rd cycle off BC and have worse acne than I did during my teenage years, and the worst cramps ever!! I miss being on BC but am wanting to conceive more (we plan to start trying in October). Hopefully everything will regulate over the next few months.
I have been off BC for a little more than a year, and I was actually in the opposite boat. Nothing really changed for me - I still broke out on BC, still had the same cycle length, etc. I was a little concerned because I expected my periods to be heavier or something once I stopped, but NOPE. My OB said not to worry though.
I posted this before, but I had a horrible time coming off the pill after being on it for ~10 yrs! I went off in May to TTC in December, and I wasn't "fully sorted out" until Nov! I'm sure mine was super unusual, though, as if yours isn't more normal after 2 or 3 months, then you might have to see your Dr. I had/got hemorraghic ovarian cysts that acted up after going off the pill...but they cleared themselves up after a few months...in the meantime I found out I had a vitamin deficiency (not BC related) and got that straightened out by November...ugh..good news is, after all that PITA, I got pregnant in Dec!
I've been off almost three weeks. Haven't had the acne problem (crossing fingers) and haven't gotten my period yet, so we'll see how it is. I assume it will not be like the pill periods which were much shorter in duration. The first week off I had terrible crying spells and some nausea and lightheadedness that finally dissappeared a few days ago. My sex drive came back (yay!!!) and I feel fine! I'm also taking prenatal vitamins since we are ttc now.
I wish that were true for me future mrs kirsch! When I was pregnant, I broke out so bad! Plus, was horribly cranky for the first 3 months and had cramps!!!!
Wow, all these horror stories is the exact reason why I've never gone on the pill and never plan to. It all sounds so miserable! :(
@Lillindy: I so don't want to go off the pill for that but the side effects are becoming unbearable.
When I went off the pill I had really bad cramps too! They went away eventually (I don't remember how long, it was a long time ago!) I also broke out, that was the thing I missed most about being on BC was the beautiful skin!

Alright, so this is the first time I've been off birth control in about 10 years, and I'm about a month into it (we're looking to TTC in July). I didn't think I would have a somewhat normal cycle in terms of timing, but I just started my period and this is AWFUL! I broke out like I am 14, these are some of the worst cramps I've ever had... makes me REALLY miss my birth control regulated cycles!
Anyone else experience this?
