Weddingbee boards

For my birthday, my fiance (Mr. W) whisked me away to Montreal. We took the train early morning, arrived to our hotel late afternoon, and ventured out to explore. We came back to our hotel after dinner and Mr. W told me he wanted to give me part of my birthday present a day early- so I could wear it all day. He pulled out a small wrapped box. I carefully unwrapped it and discovered a little blue box. A look of surprise overcame me as I untied the white ribbon and lifted the Tiffany blue lid from the box. Inside, a Return to Tiffany necklace. Surprised? Absolutely! I have had that necklace on my wish list forever. Disappointed? Absolutely! I was really hoping for a ring in that box!
 
It all started about 3 months ago. I went to a jewelers to sell some old gold and while we were there Mr. W asked me if there was anything I liked. Looking around, I didn't find anything that truly suited me, but I kept coming back to an anniversary band that took my breath away. With a little laugh, I said, "this is no engagement ring, but a perfect 'just because I love you' gift!" He smiled, we collected the money from the items sold and continued on our way. Little did I know...
 
The day of my birthday was beautiful in Montreal. The sun was shining, birds singing.. and the breeze was blowing. Shivering our way from one museum to the next, we looked at our watches and were amazed at the time. It was 3 o'clock! Somewhere between tightening our scarves and visiting museums we had missed lunch. We popped into a little restaurant on rue St. Denis and ordered a huge lunch and a much needed bottle of wine. Before heading out, Mr. W had sneaked in a birthday surprise- a piece of cake with a sparkler in it!
 
After shivering our way back to the hotel, we decided to stay in and watch a movie for the rest of the night. My pick- Julie & Julia (have I mentioned I love love love to cook?), he was a good sport about it. The movie ended, it was nearly 11:30 and still no mention of the other half of my gift. I didn't want to bring it up.. so I excused myself to get ready for bed. I was about finished brushing my teeth when a faint smell of fire entered the bathroom. A bit alarmed, I rushed into the room to make sure everything was ok. The lights were off, candles lit throughout the room and a rose petal path led me to the bed. Mr. W was on one knee and with shaking hands took mine, and asked me to be his wife. "Oui! Oui!" I exclaimed, " but we better blow out these candles so the alarm doesn't go off!!"
 
...Little did I know, Mr. W would be going back to that same jeweler over the next few months to redesign the gorgeous channeled anniversary band to include a brilliant center stone! The candles may have been blown out on my birthday, but I am still aglow!
