Hubs and I went to see this house two weeks ago today. We went back the following Tuesday with Hubs’ parents. We made an offer on the spot. The house is owned by the two grown sons of the original owners. The couple built the home in 1954 and raised both kids there. The wife died several years ago and the husband died a few months ago. Because the sons are not right in town, we gave them from Tuesday until Sunday to review our offer and counter. We heard on Friday that they countered and we made a verbal acceptance. We signed everything one week ago today. Then I had our lawyer review the contract, which went well. OUr home inpsection was on Friday. It’s complicated because the sellers are having the roof replaced, chimney work done, and upgrading the electrical work. So we had ten days for the home inspection, with an additional 10 days to reinspect those areas. The home inspection was more stressful than I expected. It’s amazing how many things you need to be thinking about. Overall the home inspection went well, as long as the roofers do things they way they are supposed to.
I am so anxious and eager to get into our home. I really hope that there are no problems and we can move forward as expected. I am so ready to be out of our apartment complex. I’d love for our dog to have his own yard, and to be able to get a second dog if we want to. I’m really looking forward to a much shorter commute to and from work, as well as not listening to our downstairs neighbors scream and yell at one another and their children.
