Ok, other photos...

Scariest thing I have ever done. I'm afraid of heights. I can go up to the top of the empire state building and look straight out but can't look down. So ziplining upside down was exhilarating. I was just telling myself not to look down. (or up in this case.) lol

Ziplining into a cenote. So much fun!!

View from our room...

Aaaah that looks like so much fun! we plan to stay at a secrets resort but we havnt figured out which one yet! Where did you find the photogropher?
@ JennyChicago. They had them there at the resort. We actually took photos on our last day because I always forgot to stop by their office. Prices weren't that bad. You can do a photoshoot and have no obligation to buy and if you buy photos there were only $15 a piece and they put it on a cd for you. Just read the trip advisors reviews so you know what to expect. I knew what to expect for our resort. It was absolutely amazing. This was my first trip to an all inclusive.
Yay Im excited! Did you book your trip through a travel agent or online on your own? Did you get the "honeymoon" package
Your pictures are awesome. We are going there in July. What tour did you do for the underwater caves? If you have the company name or whom you booked it through, please share. The more info, the better!
Glad you had a wonderful honeymoon!
@JennyChicago
I actually booked through cheapCarribean.com. They had the best deals.
I didn't get the honeymoon package, I got the junior super saver room (the cheapest room... we figure stay 7 days in a pool view room or 5 days is in a ocean front room. We decided we wanted to stay longer). I didn't want to pay extra for the honeymoon package. I did tell them that we were on our honeymoon and they next day, they put rose petals all over our bathtub and sent us flowers and put the "honeymoon" sign on our door. It was so nice of them to do that.
We did splurge and go on 3 excursions. Only wanted to do Selvatica's ziplining but because it was rainy the first 3 days, we booked a 2nd ziplining excursion just in case the weather was bad. I highly recommend the Selvatica's ziplining tour. It's the number 1 ziplining tour in Cancun by trip advisor.
At our location, all the rooms were practically the same besides the view. I would check for the resort you end up going to.
@desert teacher:
We went on two underwater caves.
"Tulum Xtreme tour" by Mayan Adventures: mayan ruins in Tulum, Ziplining on 3 long ziplines, Rapelling down 70 foot tower, snorkling in a cenote (underwater cave).
"Corona Rally tour" by Selvatica: Ziplining on 12 shorter ziplines, Drive dune buggies, Ziplining into a cenote.
Both tours were great in their own way. The Selvatica tour was slightly more fun but then again the beach in Tulum was absolutely amazing and I wouldn't want to miss that.
I know Selvatica has other tours, one that included snorkling and another one that includes horseback riding. Selvatica does have a website.
Tulum Xtreme doesn't have a website but I found this on the internet. Your travel agent may have a excusion expert once you arrive at your resort. They may be able to give you better prices too.
oooh that looks like so much fun!
I'm so sorry you were disappointed in your wedding photography :( Do you have a post about that with pictures?
What a great idea! I have to say, I think I love the non-professional ones as much as the pro pics. It looks like you had an awesome time!
I too would love to see any more photos of the resort/reviews/recommendations you have! FI and I were just at the travel agent this afternoon *almost* came to a final decision on this result, just need that last push :). I don't make decisions easily!!
Thanks for all the helpful info you've posted so far!! Oh btw, I've seen cheapcaribbean offers "rain" refunds, did you get that b/c it rained on your trip?
@racheim
Thanks for the reminder. I have to send them an email to get that rain refund. Thanks. I'm going to do that right now.
Love the pics! Glad you had such a great honeymoon. We are headed to Secrets Maroma Beach in 35 days!
Thank you, yrett107. I am saving this information for our trip in July.
Girl those photos are awesome...who did your pro pics in MX and how much was it? If you don't mind me asking. We're going for our honeymoon.
EDIT: I just saw your answer to that question at the top. Lol!
Was there a trip director at the hotel, or did you have to book all the excursions separately? We are honeymooning there this summer, and I want to make sure we go out a few times, but I don't want to have to plan too much on my own.
I toured Secrets Silversand when we were in Mexico last year. What a great resort!
It looks like you had a ton of fun!
Congratulations!
@Gills.. Well since I booked with CheapCarribbean.com they paired me up with Olympus tours so they were able to give me some suggestions on some excursions to take. They actually had better prices than I could find online.
If you don't book through them, they do have an excursion desk and a conceiage (sp?) so they can book your trips too.
It all up to you how many excursions you want. I was planning on leaving the resort twice. To go shopping and to go ziplining at Selvatica. But it rained the first 3 days, so we booked another trip to see the ruins (Mayan Adventures).
I actually booked with Selvatica on their website before I left for my trip but Olympus had better prices, so I cancelled to then rebooked it through them.
Love It! I was just there for my honeymoon and had a blast. Jacob did a great job on our photography session too.
Approx where was the resort in Cancun? In November we stayed at the Gran Caribe which was across from the Flamingo mall with Bubba Gumps, Margaritaville, etc...
Where was your resort close to?
@Sunshine. It wasn't in downtown Cancun. I think it was about 20 min car ride to our resort from downtown Cancun. The resort is located in Puerto Morelos.
@yrret107: I wrote down your info and am taking it with me next week. The resort has a travel agent they told us could do our bookings but it is not Olympus. I think it is AmStar. I don't want to book anything in advance - I want to decide when we get there.
Does Tulum have beaches and ruins?
Thank you again for your reviews and help!
Oh, just want to give a link to see more pictures of my hm. Here.
@yrret107: I have a question for you. We are also considering this resort. How far was it from Playa del Carmen? Some things I read say 40 minutes some say 20 minutes. Also, did it take a long time for you to get to the other activities and excursions as well?? We want to get out to do those things, but don't want it to be too far and be a hassle...
Thanks!
@sdb1232: Hi, Playa del Carmen was about 15-20 minute drive, I think. It was pretty close, I remember, our tour guides pointing it out to us. We never go the chance to visit Playa del Carmen, though.
As for Cancun, it was closer to 30 minute drive.
As for the other excursions, we did have to stop a few times to pick up other guests at other resorts. I don't know how long it took us to get to Tulum. Maybe an hour? or hour and half?
The Selvatica tours, I think was close. I remember being the last resort the picked us up and the first one the dropped off because we were close. I'm going to say maybe 20-30 minutes?
I wasn't worried about the tours because all of our tour guides were great. They made the trip enjoyable. On the long trips to Tulum, we were tired to we just fell asleep. It wasn't that bad. Oh, I think all of our excusions had pickup times at around 7am to 8 am. The tours I took, were great. It was a good amount of time. It was well worth it. I didn't think it was a hassle at all. One thing to remember is Rivera Maya is pretty much spread out, so if you want to see anything good, you are going to have to drive to see it. The tours I took were completely worth it. I would ask your excursion rep about how long the car ride is. Oh, most of our excursions, we got picked at 7 or 8 and got back to the resort between 3-5pm. After that, we were pretty much exhausted and took a nap as soon as we go back. I would recommend setting a timer so you don't nap too long. We did and kinda wasted the night.
Have fun!

Hi everyone. I'm back to the hive after a 7 day trip to Cancun for our delayed honeymoon. (We waited 4 months after our wedding.)
We both had an awesome time. It rained for the first 3 days but was great after that. (Coming from Seattle, we weren't really happy to leave a rainy place to go to a rainy place. ;) But the last 4 days definitely made up for it.
Ok, I got a ton of photos and these are the ones I wanted to show you. I only have 18 to show. hehe
We splurged a little and got professional photos. Definitely made up for my wedding where I was a bit dissapointed with my photographer. Getting professional photos are the way to go. I wish I could afford to do them every year.
My absolute favorite photo...
