I hope this is the right place to post a thread like this. Thought I would share with you my journey so far 🙂
I have been part of this site for a while but this is my first post. So I though I might share what I have been doing. I only have 7 months to go and it is all getting a little scary.
So my partner and I have been together for 9 years and he finally prosposed last October. He was very sweet. At the time we were in the middle of selling our house of 5 years and moving closer to the ocean. We bought a house subject to sale of our own and it was a very random last minute decision to sell and move but we just loved this house. So one night, after working very hard on our house all day we decided to go get hot chips, bread, bottle of sauce and have dinner down the beach. He grabbed a bottle of wine, 2 glasses, we stopped to get bread and hot chips and had our dinner on a little bench, over looking the ocean, just a street away from our hopeful new house (Yes we got it) He proposed after dinner, when the moon was shining on the waves. He was very nervous and at first I thought he was joking. Very exciting. I knew which ring I was getting as I work for a Jewellers and I always called it “my ring” but he was very sneaky and I had no idea he had got it for me (as we don’t stock this particular ring) and the girls at work were very sneaky.
So after a couple of weeks of enjoying our engagement, I went to a friend to start looking at wedding ideas and have a chit chat.
The main this we got out of this night was the flowers. I fell in love with the bouquet that is my avater. The blue dyed orchids are particulatly special to me as they are the flowers my fiance gave me for my formal. So I was like. That is it!!!
My absolute favourite colour is Aqua too, so that worked really well.
My fiance and I both love the beach, he surfs every chance he gets and are whole life is really revolved around the lifestyle. So it was natural that our wedding was going to be at the beach. We talked about a few things and then fell in love with a place in SA called Whalers Inn at Victor Harbor. I wanted the ocean background, grass and palm trees. It couldn’t be more perfect. We set a rough date and went from there.
The first pic is of where we would stand and the second pic is looking back up from where we walk down.
Then next mission I had was to find a dress. I went shopping with a few girlfriends, knowing that I wanted a sweetheart cut, Lace detail at the top and then flowing down the dress with lace detail at the bottom and a nice little train. I tried on a few dresses and the one I feel in love with was by Martina Liana – 346. It looked way better on. I was in love with the dress but not the price. $3,200. (Which isn’t alot but I would rather spend half that)
I hadn’t expected to but I loved the mermaid look on me, I am a curvy 10 but it just so super sexy. It had a gorgeous long train too and a lower v back.
So that was the style I was going for and I looked high and low to get that feel but for half the cost.
I somehow came across a brand that I loved called Allure. I loved so many of their dresses and they had heaps of the style I was going for. But this one stole my heart for some reason and so once again I was on the hunt.
Funnily enough I didn’t like it on the model BUT it had everything I was looking for. Mermaid style cut, full lace, sweetheart neckline, v back, button back (and alllllll the way down) One thing I didn’t want was bling. But I really liked the detail on this dress, it didn’t feel over the top and the sash detail reminded me of a snowflake which is a nice tough because we go snowboarding every year.
I found that there was a retailer near me. No one had it in the country that I or the store could find. So without even seeing the dress I bit the bullett and ordered it…..
I had to wait 4 months.
In that time, I had my engagement party. The theme started to shape itself, aquas and whites, lace, beach.
Here is some pics from engagement party. Photos are from early morning, end of night.
