- Wedding: August 2012
We was going to have a destination wedding, but for so many reasons, (people scared of flying, people not being able to afford it, myself convalecsing after an illness) we cancelled that and decided to have our wedding at home here in UK.
to soften the blow of our wonderful plans, we decided we would go all out and have the place of our dreams……a Stately Home close by. our wedding is small but it doesnt matter because they have small function rooms to hold 20-30 guests and as ours is only 20…..perfect we thought.
Then i rang them and discussed our needs, it was going to be expensive enough……..but because we were a small party, and given the fact we wasnt going abroad…..to hell with it, we didnt care. The grounds would be marvellous for our photographs, and inside was beautiful aswell, in case it rained.
But apparently a small wedding of ‘just’ 20……they called it, was not big enough for a weekend wedding, they would ONLY allow us to book on a Mon – Thurs…..
and it was STILL the same price!
well we cant expect friends and family to take a day off work , maybe 2, for our small wedding, which is only an afternoon wedding…..no party in the evening. so we have looked elsewhere, and wil be going to see the manager of a great little hotel tomorrow, that is HALF the price, and is more than happy to accommadate ‘just’ 20 people.I have read great reviews on the place too, so i am looking forward to getting this booked and then i can draw a line under it for at least a year……..
I have been there myself to a friends wedding and it really is nice.
I am not kidding myself its as nice as the first one, but at least we are welcome there, and for that i feel better, and i think it will be wonderful because of that.
