- Wedding: May 2014
Hi Bees 🙂
I joined the bee around about the same time as my fiance and I decided to elope. So about six weeks between deciding to elope, and actually doing it. We had been engaged since the end of January 2013 and together since April 2012. We had a more traditional but small wedding planned close to home with all our closest friends and family which was supposed to be in June 2014, however we had to cancel it for various reasons in January of this year. We decided to save any fuss and have a very romantic special time we’d just elope. I already had my dress, and the groom just needed to hire a kilt. The only things left were to do the paperwork, book a venue and a registrar, find some witnesses free on the day and buy my wedding ring. This was all booked and organised fairly quickly so in the weeks that followed I kept myself sane watching endless wedding movies and browsing the bee! Before I knew it the weekend was upon us and we travelled across the country to Edinburgh.
After a few days travel and seeing relatives it was suddenly our wedding day! No one knew as we wanted it very private so the only people in the know were us, and our two best friends who acted as witnesses. Thankfully mine knew how to lace up a wedding dress too!! She had been someone else’s chief bridesmaid before and was prepared for tantrums, panic and helping me into my dress. There was very little tantrums or panic though!!
We had a wonderful day getting married in a beautiful suite at the Lothian Chambers in Edinburgh, had photographs taken around the city and then in Princes St Gardens then I changed into a smaller white dress and we went out for a wonderful lunch, drinks and cocktails. I remember smiling and laughing so much it was such a fun day after the wedding ceremony and the ceremony itself was so romantic. I don’t have many photographs yet just a few the best man sent me and some we took with disposable cameras. It’ll be a few weeks probably till I see the photographs my chief bridesmaid took as well as the photographer we hired.
Here’s one we took on film though to wet your appetites ladies! Just as I left the hotel room there was a lovely lobby on the 4th floor of our hotel with a seating area and giant windows looking out onto Edinburgh Castle. Couldn’t resist posing there in my dress!
