- Wedding: March 2012
So, we decided to have a seafood boil at one of our favorite pubs in the city. We held it outside and hired a DJ. We paid for all the food and alcohol for our guests! I cooked all of the sides myself and my fiance, his dad and his friend boiled the crawfish and shrimp and fried up all the fries, mushrooms and chicken! I made blueberry muffin cream cheese vanilla cake truffles (people were grabbing these by the handful by the way) and my homemade baked mac n cheese was a hit!
We were outside on a deck. And let me tell you, July 16th in Houston, Texas definitely had us wardrobe changing every hour it seemed. I could not get cool enough and my fiance just eventually dealt with a soaked shirt.
My fiance made a batch of Raspberry Wheat Ale homebrew and we bottled those up and hangtagged them and gave them out as favors to our guests. The beer was soooooo yummy!!!
All in all the party was a success BUT we did learn something valuable: stick with your mate at your reception or any party! We did not see each other but maybe 2 times at the e-party and we have now made a promise not to leave each others side at the wedding recption. If I want to talk to Aunt “Bee” then he comes too, if he wants to smoke a cigar with his guys, I come too!
Here is what our enagagment party invites looked like!
