I like the platter, one of my friends did something similar, but her signatures were on the front for all to see.  I’m not sure how I like them being on the back with your idea.

Mrs.Sawyertobe:  That sounds awesome! You’ll actually be able to use/see/display it daily rather than having it stuffed in a box in storage. Great idea!

Will you ever actually see the signatures if they’re on the bottom? What about Doing your names and a small section of the quote in the middle and then everyone can sign around that on the front?

Sounds like a great idea! Post pics after your wedding so we can see how it turns out

I’m doing something similar (signatures will be on the front), so I love it!

My sister did something like this. She thought she would display it and use it more than a book…she didn’t. A year later is was simply put in a box and placed somewhere out of the way. Sounds like a cute idea, though!

What a great idea! I can’t stand clutter and also wanted something other than a book that we could use. I ordered a simple beveled mirror and an engraving pen and the plan is for guests to sign the mirror which we will then hang in our home. definitely share pictures when all is said and signed.

Mrs.Sawyertobe:  I love the idea of different forms of guest books! My friend  did a Tea set (serving tray, tea pot, sugar bowl) for her guest book. I wish I had pictures to show since it was so cute. She got it from the pottery place in town and had it painted in colours she loved and than had it fired and sealed to actually use it if she wanted to.

I don’t see the point in people signing it if it’s on the back. When will you see the signatures? Isn’t the whole point of an alternative guest book that the signatures are visable on a (semi) regular basis? If you don’t want to see the signatures just have a regular guest book and have the platter without people signing it.

I don’t know what the point of having them sign the back of the plate is.  You would never see the signatures.  We thought of doing a platter as well.  I have seen them at weddings before and thought it was very cute.  However, I think we may have too big of a wedding for it, and my fiance kind of thought we would never use it for anything.  It would be weird to serve food on it, and a little strange to just display a platter.

I love the idea.  When you’re not using it you can display it in your china closet or mantal.  Not every dish has to go into a cabinet never to see the light of day.  I really think it would be nice to bring it out for Thanksgiving and Christmas, I wish I had thought of it!!
