Okay, so after much discussion it is apparent that the vast majority of our kind (the Bee population, that is) are not big on running; so, let's start a post and keep eachother going-if you RAN/WALKED/JOGGED/SKIPPED :) a mile today, post your your time...keep doing this every day so that we can all keep pushing eachother-it doesn't matter how fast or slow we start off, let's just START off and then we'll work from there! I'm actually motivated to go try mine right now... BRB (well maybe not the 'R' part :) ...)
Wow! That's awesome. This week I have done 9:44, 9:56 and today...10:36. I started too fast and about died halfway through (I did 0.5 miles in 4 minutes!). I'll try again on Wednesday - hopefully it will be a bit better then!
Good for you! I love this idea ![]()
Unfortunately, I have the knees of a geriatric, so I can no longer run. But I am a great cheerleader - go Bees, go!!
@ August15Bride: 9:44!? You're my hero! :)) Yeah 4 mins is pretty fast! Okay, keep me posted!
@Quiche-:)I'll definately be needing the cheering!
I'll join you ladies! Mr. Y and I have a run planned for the morning. I'll post my stats tomorrow! :o)
I love this post! I hope we can keep it up.
Today FI and I went hiking around a reservoir nearby. it's about 3 miles around but we continued up a REALLY steep hill (i was struggling but kept pushing myself) and that was about another 1.5 mile all together.
So 4.5 miles and it took us about 1 hour. Considering a good chunk of it was uphill (and I needed to stop a few times to catc my breath), I think thats pretty good.
Morning, girls! We ran 3.5 miles in a shade under 35 minutes. I felt pretty good, though I think it's time to invest in a new pair of shoes. I'd forgotten how many miles the current pair have clocked. :o\
How is everyone else doing?
Well done all! I ran just over 4miles in 50 mins this morning. Not fast at all, but certainly a good feeling! I run that about 4-5 times a week, so will try to keep posting :)
I think this is great, my SO and I are doing the Couch to 5K program, and we have been consistent for a month now! We don't have a track to run on so I follow the plan according to the times. I started wearing a pedometer, so our routine right now is putting us a little over 2 miles in 20 mins. I'm excited that in another month we will be able to jog a 5k!
starrienyte - I'm doing Couch to 5K, too! I just started week four today. I did about 4 miles in 45 minutes! It was rough but I was thinking "gotta get home to the Bee boards!" :)
I'm so bummed! I felt like I was doing my best mile in awhile (I haven't tried to run/jog straight through without walking in between in months) and near the end of my third lap my treadmill shut off! I had the thing plugged in and the card was still in the little slot! GGRR! SO, I finished the mile out but I have no idea what my time was after all...I'll try again tomorrow! You all are actually motivating me to keep up my end of the bargain-thanks!! :))))
Yesterday I ran 1.2 miles in 12 minutes. Then I walked for 3 minutes. Then ran another 5 minutes at a 6.0mph pace.
That's a big improvement for me. :)
Congrats 8/15 :)! I love feeling accomplished like that! I, on the other hand, did my first spinning class and felt like I was going to die afterwards-the sick feeling without the whole accomplished feeling LOL. 45 minutes. My sister wants me to go w her tomorrow-I'd rather not toss my cookies in front of a class full of cyclers. :0!
Look at you go! I'll cheer with Quiche.
My idea of running is 30 minutes on the elliptical flipping through Women's Fitness as motivation. It's air conditioned, so i tend to work out longer and i'm motivated by all the fit bodies!
I'll cheer all of you! Currently in Dallas and it's like 104deg outside...I think anyone running outside these days is CRAZY! I'm ejs4y8 - elliptical inside with the news or sports on is my "cup of tea"...
I did not go a mile today (I don't think), but I did just run outside for about 10 minuets. To me that is big because I don't remember the last time I did. I'm really excited and know if I keep working at it I can build up the length of time I run is awesome.
Doing springs with walking fast intervals is a good way to increase your endurance. It's how I went from a 12 minute mile (
) to an 8 back in college. Not that I care enough to do that now, but that's how I was told to do better. Eventually you can sprint less and find a middle ground.
I ran my mile in 9:17 yesterday!! Whoohoo!! Today will be a *longer* run - we'll see how long it ends up being!
Great topic, I need some help keeping focused!
Yesterday I did 4 miles in about 45 mins.. working on that pace!
I did 3.2 in 28 minutes last Thursday - and tonight I am going for it again.
Also, ran four miles and biked ten in 1 1/2 hours. Hoping to do it again this weekend but run the Key Biscayne bridge to amp up the workout
Keep up the good work ladies - Im hoping to join the half marathon scene in January for the ING marathon in Miami.
I did 4 miles last night! I wasn't really timing myself, though - yesterday was my "easy" run.
This is a fabulous thread!
omg. This is an awesome thread. I didn't run today, but I am running tomorrow!!
Love this idea!
I did 4.5 miles on the elliptical in about 45 min today-- not sure if that distance is accurate at all though. My knees are not great so I try to stay away from running, but doing intervals with the elevation and resistance cranked up don't stress my joints too much.
I just did a little over two miles outside - I ran the whole time and it took me almost 30 minutes! It was SO HOT. So much for trying to get some fresh air - give me my air conditioned gym! :)
Me and Quiche both -- bad knees, can't run -- but GO BEES GO!!!! WOO HOO!!
Just got back from a 3 mile run! It was supposed to be 6 miles... :(
Mr. Bear Cub's out of town for the weekend. I miss my running partner! He's always the best at motivating me.
@Miss BearCub: I'm jealous. My FI and I can't run together. We've tried. He says it hurts him to run as slow as I do. Haha.
@aug15 - I run REALLY slow. Mr BC is an incredibly patient man! He even said he wanted to run our marathon with me, at my pace. I imagine we'll be going about 12 min miles for the marathon! (gotta conserve energy!)
Did 3.5 tonight in 35 1/2 minutes. :) Just checking in - so I can track my progress - Lied about last week - it was 2.3 in 28 minutes ( that's super slow LOL) But at least I up'd to almost 10 minute miles this week!
Mr. Y and I hit the road again after work. It was way too hot out, leading me to gripe a bit, take a few too frequent walk breaks and cut the run a little short. (I know... bad, Yorkie!) We did about 3.5 miles in 38 minutes. Hopefully tomorrow morning's long run will be better!
My full mile on a tread mill today was 16:40. Kinda slow, but not insanely horrible....
Just got back from a 3-miler... 29:25. On Saturday I slept in a little (missed the group run), but got up in time for 4 miles around the neighborhood before it got too hot. I didn't keep time, but felt pretty strong. :o)
Today I did 30 minutes at about an 11.5 minute mile pace. I want to work on both speed AND endurance. And I should really do some hill work!
i am also doing the couch to 5K program so i don't really have a timed mile. luckily i get to do it in a canyon with plenty of shade and i go around 7pm. maybe i'll time a mile next time i'm out of town. since i train at high altitude with lots of hills maybe i'll surprise myself. all you super fast bees are inspiring!
This is a great idea! I do run regularly but will be keeping an eye on this thread to keep me motivated and to cheer you on!
I did 12 miles yesterday!!! Farthest I've ever run! My first ever real race is in 2 weeks - half marathon - after surviving yesterday, I feel like I will be able to handle the actual race. It's a pretty good feeling, considering that before I started training 4 months ago, the farthest I'd ever run was 5 miles - and that was 5 years ago.
As far as my time, I'm really slow... my average pace yesterday was 12:30 min/mile, but since I'm training for distance, I'm not too worried about speed right now. I am pretty pleased with myself for doing all of my long runs without any walking or stopping at all.
That's awesome, lilac04! Congratulations on such a major milestone... just wait until you have that medal around your neck! :o)
