is so freaking stubborn and will not listen to me. The average rainfall in florida is 8 inches ... normally its 2 inches ... but when we're going it's 8.

It will be warm, but stormy most likely.

I am so annoyed that he is insisting we go to Florida.

I just told him that we should think of going to Hawaii. It would be so nice. He refuses because of the time it takes to travel. It is our honeymoon. Shouldn't I get a say in this freaking vacation?

I would go to French Polynesia if I had my choice ... but him ... he wants Florida.

I guess it depends where in FL you are going to be but I remember taking a trip to Disney in October and the weather was perfect, not too hot but warmer than Boston, we had rain on 1 of 10 days. I agree that you should plan your honeymoon together but if the hurricane season is keeping you out of FL, I think you may be late enough in October to not have to worry so much.

I have never been in October or November. Isn't it rainy? I researched and from the beginning I told fiance that we should go somewhere that is not in the hurricane belt, ... obviously he didn't listen.

I gave in and now we are set to go end of October. I am dreading that it will be a tropical storm during the time we're there. I just don't like Florida when it's raining.

Won't it be horrible stormy weather when we go?

As a life-long Floridian I agree with legalbee - the weather should be beautiful! While it still is technically hurricane season in October, I've only had to deal with a hurricane once in October, and that was in 2004 when things were crazy. And with the La Nina (or is it El Nino) going on now, your odds of a hurricane are super low. Where in Florida are you looking to go?

You'll be fine in October, summer is when it's gross and rainy every day.

Palm Beach area. The travel agent I talked to for a while this morning freaked me out. She said that it will be thunderstorms but warm the entire time.

I love thunderstorms, just not the entire time of my honeymoon. I want to lay by the beach and relax. If it is stormy we will be stuck inside with nothing to do.

no way! the afternoon rain pattern ends in september. i grew up in palm beach county-it should be gorgeous unless there is some weird weather pattern going on!

why palm beach though?  theres so many better places! (although im biased since that was home to me!)

I have family in Palm Beach - it's a great place & only a short drive to Miami & the Keys. Love it! While no one can promise zero rain, the normal pattern is the occasional afternoon thunderstorm. And if you stay on the beach, they are amazing to watch roll in! So don't worry - you will get plenty of time to relax on the beach.

i LOVE the west coast beaches now that im on this side.  siesta key/longboat key area is great if you want beaches and then fun places to go out to at night.  boca grande is gorgeous, but much slower speed and theres pretty much no nightlife!  sanibel and marco island are some other great beach spots.

Another Floridian seconding beautiful weather in late October and November. We're getting married in November primarily for the weather. I really wouldn't worry about a tropical storm or hurricane in October, and I think fall is the absolute best time to visit Florida. It will be less crowded and the weather will be gorgeous! Perfect time for a honeymoon!

Ok. All the expert Floridians ... I have a question. If we're in Palm Beach, how far would it be to go to Miami (South Beach) or even Disney World ...

I guess what I should research, and if you bees know, where we could go if we are tired of Palm Beach. We are booked as of right now for 2 1/2 weeks.

Now I guess it's coming so fast that I'm getting nervous! Lol.

Do you have travel insurance? I'm sure you'll be fine; it won't storm for 2.5 weeks straight!

I've been to FL about a gazillion times and I think you'll be ok in October!  You should be missing the hottest months of the year when the afternoon thunderboomers always seem to spring up for an hour or two and then go away.

Travel insurance protects you if there is a major storm, sickness, etc.  We had it for our honeymoon in Mexico (I was worried about hurricanes too).  Our policy covered us so that if a hurrican would come, they would get us on a flight out of there and it covered us so that we could come back at a later date and finish our days there that we didn't get because of the storm.  It covers lots of other things too - it was well worth the peace of mind.

As a Floridian (who lives inland, near the swamps) I think you'll have a wonderful time here in October.  The weather is usually great (not blistering hot) and the chances of a hurricane are very low. I'm not sure if you know but hurricane season lasts June - November and its already September and I haven't seen one yet!  Florida is probably an inexpensive option (as opposed to islands like Hawaii and French Polynesia) and you'll have a great time, I promise.

We're going to Bermuda, which is not outside the hurricane belt.  So, we got travel insurance.  It was like $75 per person.

we got married on august 29 - the anniversary of katrina, so obviously big-time hurricane season - and went to jamaica right after, again at the height of hurricane season. the weather was PERFECT - it only rained once the entire week. i think you'll be fine. what i did was buy some inexpensive travel insurance just in case a hurricane hit so we'd be financially covered. but obviously we didn't need to use it!

also, if you're so worried about hurricanes, what about las vegas or los angeles or arizona? they might be drier than florida in october.

As a native South Floridian, I have to say that your worries are only justified in the summer months.  Later October, early November is very nice!  Winter is the most beautiful time of year, but early Fall/late summer is great and you should love it.  There is soooo much to do and everything is well connected and easy to navigate.  Well, Miami is difficult to navigate sometimes but its beautiful.  Even though we see a ton of rain, most people don't even bother with umbrellas because the sun comes out so quickly.  Rain very, very rarely gets in the way of anybody's plans or even keeps people off the beaches for long.  In fact, it rains a lot less on the beach than it does further inland.

If you want warm, you've definitely got it.  It's 90 degrees most days here right now, bleh.  I guess because I've lived here my whole life, I crave days that are not always so warm and sunny.  Something different would be nice for a change, lol!

You'll love it- bring sunscreen!  I recommend doing the beaches in the morning and early afternoon when its least likely to rain and less hot.

You'll be fine in that area in late Oct. and November. It's raining a ton right now though in the panhandle area and all over the South. Grrrr.
