So are you getting reimbursed? Or are you going back at a different date?

Awww I’m so sorry! Would you consider just going on the honeymoon later? Like postponing it? That way you can still go there?

Oh no! Where were you supposed to go? I have a list of a few small resorts with very few guests that are on my future vacations list. Take a look at the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, it’s the rainy season but apparently on the Caribbean side it doesn’t get affected much by it (the Pacific side is apparently like a monsoon!). We also really loved Belize 🙂 Or there’s an awesome place in Panama that’s been on my list for a while!

Oh my goodness! I’m so sorry to hear, I would be sooo upset.  That’s crazy – I actually looked into that place after someone on here posted pictures of it (maybe it was you?).  We are going to Secrets Maroma Beach about 20 mins from Playa Del Carmen – I hope they haven’t had issues due to the storm..?  Have you looked into Secrets Maroma?  I know it’s much bigger than the place you were staying at so that’s probably out of the question. Aw I’m sorry, I hope you figure something out..let us know!

Have you looked at Xpu-Ha Palace?  It’s in Riviera Maya also, and bungalows.  We stayed there and loved it but it’s not AS luxurious as where you were staying (just looked!!)

Dont know if this is possible, or even something you want to look into…

But, I was just on trip advisor this morning reading reviews on the tides and I remember a post from April where a honeymooning couple were told the resort was closing for construction- they insisted that they wanted to keep their reservation and in turn were the only couple on the entire resort during there stay as the hotel decided to accommodate them. If memory serves me correctly, they were also upgraded to the presidential suite!!

If that sounds like something you would be interested in, I would talk to the manager and see what you could work out!!

Best of luck!

There are MANY wonderful resorts in the Riviera Maya, so please don’t let this hiccup discourage you about your entire honeymoon.  Consult with the company you booked with & see if you can simply change resorts since you already have your air booked for those dates.  And don’t forget to ask about travel insurance in case anything comes up that would cause YOU to need to cancel at the last minute.  It will all work out!

Aw no that sucks! I’m sure there are other gorgeous places nearby that you will love. Get on TripAdvisor stat!

I just checked the vendors that we use for the Tides & they are not showing any availability at the end of August for about 30+ days.  My guess is that they have planned construction/renovations going on.  If they really sustained damage from a recent storm, they most likely would have been closed now, rather than 3 months down the road.
