If you want somewhere cheap, there is amazing camping at the Shawnee National Forest. It's a couple hour's drive away but so very romantic and beautiful. There are even waterfalls there!
Sorry to hear that .. what are your hobbies? are you outdoorsie people? you can always go to the same place and visit the city where the concert was going to be held. It will be a nice relaxation time for both of you. :)
I am so sorry! I heard a I think last week, Steven Tyler was hospitalized after a fall and it was pretty bad! Don't worry what other people think, do you know how many times we get asked about the honeymoon after we got married?! It was ridiculous! I guess some people just did not understand that we did not take one because we wanted to put our money in our dream house we are building and were kind of tired of traveling right now. We will some day and so will you! To each their own.
I dont know where you are at in Indiana or what you guys like to do but you can find something and make the best of it. Go camping, go to a big city and go to a baseball game or site seeing for a few days. You could take the money and put it towards a romantic cabin somewhere. We have those all over ohio and they are private for 2 people only with hotubs etc. Just get away and do something for just the 2 of you before your busy schedules start! My DH and I do this and have even when we were dating. We would always go somewhere and go to a baseball game, something we love to do and just be absolutely alone for a few days. No phone, email etc. It is so peaceful.
Thanks guys. I'm just all frantic right now and sad.
I'm sure we will find something. He does enjoy cabins. We went to Gaitlinburg over spring break, maybe we could find some cheap cabins like that. I just hate that we have had this planned and it was going to be our first concert together (my first ever!). But thank you all for the advice. I'm going to look up that Shawnee National Forest, Illinois isn't far from us, and Missgreen, we could drive to Ohio.
Thanks Ladies!
snmcdowell, at the Shawnee National Forest is it camping in tents or do they have cabins? I looked it up and I couldn't find anything just that it is in southern illinois, which isn't far from us!
I 2nd the B&B recommendation. We just did local B&Bs and spend some of the $ we saved by not travelling to go to nicer dinners and even some free touristy sites.
what about going to Chicago for a long weekend? or you could go to southwest michigan, there are some great wineries and you could stay on lake michigan and rent a house or stay at a cute B&B for a few days.
I would totally make a destination concert into a honeymoon.
That stinks that he got hurt and cancelled, but you have a little time to plan. The B&B or camping idea could be fun, too, plus there are other cities to visit in your area, I'm assuming you could get to St Louis, Nashville, Cincinnati, or even Chicago. The good thing about this area of the country is that it's reasonably priced, too, try pricelining a 4-star hotel in one of these areas. Let me know if you want some info on Cincy.

We got married July 18, and I was busy doing my first internship for college and my husband had just started his new job and we did not have time to go on our honeymoon right after the wedding. So we were going on it Aug 30. We are both huge Aerosmith fans and Aerosmith and ZZ Top were having a concert about 2 hours away. We bought tickets in June and had the 4 days that we were going to drive up get a hotel room and spend 4 days just us and then go to the concert. Well we just found out they cancelled the concert!!!!!!! Grrr! (I know most of you are probably thinking wow a concert for their honeymoon, that's what our friends and family thought too. but we were sooo excited!) We are so bummed!
So now we don't know what to do. We are getting refunded for our tickets (and we had awesome seats too!! Grr) so we are getting our money back. But now we don't know what to do. We don' t want to fly anywhere, he's not a beach person anyways. We live in Indiana not much to do, but any suggestions?
