I just wanted to share our invitations with ya’ll! I hated to have to block out everything because they look soooo awesome.
Here’s the story: I wanted something cute and not-like-everyone-else’s. I saw this flowchart (it was actually an STD, but it was amazing!) in a bridal magazine, actually before we were engaged, and just loved it. My mom is much much MUCH more traditional. She loves the “cordially invited” and “request the honor of your presence” and “Mr. and Mrs. My-dads-first-name Lastname present their daughter” etc. And Mr. BlueEyes is part of a stepfamily, and both of his parents are remarried, so it made it confusing as to how to put all the parent’s names. It was really difficult to come up with an invitation that accomadated all of our wishes and requirements. Well, we decided to compromise! I got to design the front, and my mom got to design the inside of the folded card. They just came in today and I couldn’t be more excited with the way they turned out!
As far as the wording with the parents, we decided to put everyone’s first and last names:”MyDad and MyMom Mymaidenname request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Myname Mymiddlename to MrBlueEyes MrBlueEyesmiddlename son of Dad and Stepmom MrBlueEyeslastname and Mom and Stepdad StepDadslastname etc.” Just thought it would be helpful to post that because we had trouble figuring out exactly how it should be worded!
