The price pretty much is whatever he says it is… You need to get a quote you both agree on in writing. He does have the right to charge to take the other stone out.

jillbean1217:  is that $300 with the aqua stone or just the setting OR is it the setting AND the charge to swap the stones? i would just ask him to clairfy where the extra price costs are coming from as you were quoted one price a while ago and another on the phone. and regardless, get whatever price you both agree upon in writing – from the setting, to the resetting of the stone, to sizing the ring etc. make sure you get it in writing.

I would get it in writing! I hate when jewellers take advantage and tell you one price then the next day it’s a higher price. I hope you get the ring if your dreams and that it all works out for you! All the best and I’m looking forward to seeing your ring on your finger!

I would ask for the quote in writing and ask them to mention what that price includes.

Honestly I’d just buy the ring with the aqua stone and take it to a trusted jeweler to reset

If the ring with the aqua I’d $235 I’d buy it as is and use the stone to make a pendant or rhr. Then find another jeweler to set the moissy. I don’t see why he’s jacking up the price either other than the fact he can. It’s definitely worth buying since it’s your dream ring. Either way it’s still a great deal.
