I’m so excited to post this! I have been seriously driving myself crazy trying to decide on colors for our early summer wedding next year. Our venue is an adorable little clubhouse located right on the beach (see previous post for more details if interested).
Anyway, my original idea was to go with an aqua or turquoise and pair it with pops of pink. However, the shade of blue we were going to use happens to be my favorite color and I feel like I’m playing it out a bit. Our entire house has little accents of aqua blue all around. I wanted something different for this occasion!
Then, it dawned on me. I want to use LIMES in our wedding. Yes, LIMES! Bright green limes with pops of pink all around. I want our wedding to have a light, semi-formal feel with refreshing accents and what better way to achieve this than with limes?
Why limes you wonder? Well, I’m a true Conch — a native Florida Keys Conch, that is! Key limes are a STAPLE in our lives.
After about two solid nights of hardcore image searching, I’ve come up with this inspiration board and I loooooooooooooove it:
The details behind the colors/theme:
Not only are key limes a huge part of my life (well, my food life), but when I met DH after leaving the Keys, I quickly discovered that his favorite dessert happens to be key lime pie. Talk about feeling all giddy inside!
We will use key lime or lime slices in the vases for our centerpieces — how totally fun and refreshing! I love the examples I’ve found online so far.
And, for dinner, we are serving a buffet style Hispanic dinner in celebration of our culture (my father is Cuban and DH is Honduran). Mmm mmm mm! Not only will we be serving some fabulous food but we’ll also offer mojitos to go with!
And lastly, aside from the cake we have yet to decide on, we will be serving homemade key lime pie (or mini pies as favors?) using my grandma’s famous recipe from her restaurant in the Florida Keys. We’re talking about some delicious key lime pie! Oh, I can’t wait!
So, what do you think? Do you have any other fun ideas that we can use to further emphasize our lime accents? Do you think the centerpieces, mojitos, and key lime pies are enough to establish a “mini theme”?
I’m seriously excited just thinking about making all of this happen. YAY!
