A few days ago our downstairs neighbor asked to borrow our car, and my Fi obliged, telling him after the 31st of August he couldn’t use it because the tags would be expired.
Well, yesterday he still hadn’t returned the key and we still hadn’t seen him. Fast forward to midnight. We hear banging on what sounds like our door so we get up. Turns out that our Neighbors ex gf and some pissed looking guy were banging down his door. We told them we hadn’t seen him, but our car was still here like it had been all day. The ex GF wanted to sleep in our apartment and we said no.
All calms down and we get to go back to bed only to wake up and find our car GONE! Without our neighbor asking again and or course the tags are expired. We hsve no idea where he went and he;s not on our insurance.
If he doesn’t have it back in an hour my FI’s gonna call the cops. Ugh! We don’t need this right now…

What the hell! Yes, you are being nice to wait the hour, but you should report the car stolen! That is INSANE. No good deed goes unpunished I guess.

yikes, thats scary…Id call teh cops and explain, you dont want him getting arrested but still, take the keys away ASAP…and pray he didnt get an extra made.

I would call the cops now… The longer you wait the further he could get… especially since he seems to be running from somebody.

YIKES… i would file a police report!! Sounds like the neighbor has a lot going on that ya’ll don’t need to be dragged into!

Call the cops now. There’s no reason to wait an hour when he was not even supposed to take it again yesterday.

- Wedding: March 2010 - Calamigos Ranch
Call the cops now. He already has the car past the date you lent it, and if he ends up in an accident you don’t want to be responsible for it!

Oh my gosh! I can’t believe that! I agree, call the police and get your car back. I love how people repay you for kindness…

Definitely time for that police report. Sounds like you have some craaaaaaazy neighbors!!

(((Hugs))) too. I know that you didn’t need another “thing” on your plate…

Oh man, I agree that you should call the cops, but I def. sympathize. I always hate to end up looking like the “bad guy” with neighbors and such even if they’re screwing me over.

Apparently, he just called. He took it at 5 am to see the ex, or GF or whatever she is since she was freaking out. FI demanded he get it back. NOW. He’s never using it again. HE can take the bus just like everyone else!
