Oh no! Is your backyard fenced? I’m sorry, that is so upsetting.

Oh no!! I’m so sorry. Does she wear the collar all the time or is she microchipped? Hopefully someone will pick her up! I know when I see dogs running around with no owner in sight I always try to help them. There’s lots of good samaritans out there that will help a lost dog!

Was she wearing her collar/ is she microchipped? Someone may pick her up since seeing a small dog like that running lose usually means they are lost so maybe someone will call you. Keep looking for her! And leave a blanket or sweatshirt with your scent on it at the edge of your yard. I hope she’s back home soon!

Oh god, I’m so sorry!! Despite not knowing the area well, dogs have an incredible sense of direction.. I will keep you in my thoughts, she’ll find her way back to you!!

@HeatherMM:  Just keep trying! Dogs have an amazing sense to find their way home sometimes. If you house has a lot of woods around, I would go for a long walk out there calling her name. Maybe she’ll come across your trail and sniff her way home. DH’s parent’s dog ran off in completely wooded unfamiliar area (no where near their house), and after they looked for hours they left out a blanket with their scent on it. The went back first thing in the morning and he was sleeping on the blanket.

Awww… I hope that you’re able to find her or that she comes back on her own. That is so awful!

@HeatherMM:  Someone could have picked her up and are waiting to give you a call! I would contact local shelters just incase she slipped her collar or something. Some shelters in my area even have a facebook, and you can post a photo of your missing dog right on their wall. And I don’t know if any of your local news stations do this, but one of our local news anchors has a big soft spot for animals and if you e-mail a picture of your missing dog, they’ll put it on the air. And if you have a local patch news website, contact them too!

@HeatherMM:  I really hope you find her! I know exactly how you’re feeling.. I had a cat get out once and I was so upset I thought I would die. We found her hiding in some brush. We also just got a new dog two days ago and I’m SO afraid of him slipping his collar before he’s microchipped.

I’m so sorry, that is such a terrible feeling.  I would for sure call animal control and any shelters in the area.  If there are any vet offices close by I would call as well, sometimes strays get brought there if someone doesn’t know where to take them.  Since you dog is small and so cute someone that sees her is likley to approach and try to help.

If she doesn’t turn up this morning you could also try old fashioned “lost dog” signs.  I know whenever I see those posted I take note and keep an eye out.

🙁  I hope she is okay!  When we first moved to the country my dog went missing for a long time.  I was the saddest.  One day while riding the bus (I was in 6th grade) I SAW HER!!!!  She was running around someone’s yard with a wild pack of family dogs!  (Like the Modest Mouse song!)  I called my stepdad right when I got to school to go rescue her and it turns out that the people that lived there found her and liked her so much (they had the pack of dogs already) that they kept her as an inside dog.  She was a hostage!  It was pure luck.  I hope you find your baby, there is still lots of hope!
