Congratulations!!  It really is a very exciting time and is for a while.  We bought our home about 8 months ago and it’s still exciting.

@Brickette:  Your home looks beautiful!

Boyfriend and I are getting towards the end of buying his first place (I’ll be living there, but it’s all in his name). We went with a condo due to prices in the area and what we would have gotten if we had gone for a house – it just made more sense budget wise.I totally get how it makes you a bit more patient waiting for a proposal though. We were told not to make any big purchases before closing since it could affect our mortgage. Knowing that theres a legitimate reason why he hasn’t bought one has definitely made it easier (so has the fact that we picked a jewelry store and went to look around a little bit earlier this month!)

@Brickette:  Is it going to be in both of your names?

Also, I don’t want to be pessimistic, but prepare yourself in case anything bad happens (don’t get too attached to the house or start planning decorations and such). Some people have very smooth and painless experiences and others (like me!) have a home buying process that puts them on the brink of insanity! The inspection, appraisal, and dealing with the financing are the biggest stressors, I think.
