- Wedding: July 2014
…with a rehearsal. Ugh. We moved our ceremony start time up 30 minutes from what we originally talked about when we met her and, totally my mistake, I forgot to mention it any sooner than Friday. BUT. Even if we had left it at the original time, she still wouldn’t have made it on time. She scheduled a rehearsal a couple hours before us on our wedding day (we now have a 4:30 ceremony instead of 5). She assured us when we met, she’s there at least 30 minutes in advance – around the time guests typically start showing up. Well the rehearsal location is an hour away without traffic, our wedding is on a Friday afternoon, and her commute would take her through an area that has notoriously bad traffic – basically doubling your commute time if you’re not a carpool. Traffic on a friday in that area starts around 3 so making it in 2.5 hours would be difficult and 2 would be next to impossible.
She told us her husband was an option (we met with them both initially but just felt we clicked more with her) so after talking about it, we decided that he would be the best solution since my omission would probably cost us the deposit if we tried to find someone new. She admitted she was already worried about making it on time to the 5 o’clock ceremony and said 4:30 pretty much wasn’t an option but invites are already in the mail so not a whole lot I can do about it. Besides, we booked her FOREVER ago. I’m sure that we had our date scheduled before that rehearsal.
I’m sure this would have been avoided if I had just remembered to tell her we had moved it up, but we bounced back and forth on start time for so long that I just spaced and assumed I had told everyone. *high five me*
