How exciting! I've heard about Engagement Chicken but I haven't tried it.
Yes, crebre! do it! and do the wishbone!!
Thanks Tessa!!!
Engagement chicken! I love it! I'm already engaged, but I think I will make it anyway.
Okay I have NO IDEA How to make this chicken, maybe I should do it on Sunday because he doesn't have plans? He works late?? Nah tomorrow would be more of a surprise....
It's easy! Just make sure you pull all of the guts out of the bird and it's fully thawed.
Rub salt on the skin, lemon juice if you want, you can also rub some butter on the skin.
Stuff an onion in its ass (sorry to be crude!) and roast that sucker!
You can do it!!
i just created a post in the waiting section, but actually it does sound really yummy!!! and a variation from the normal baked chicken that i make. i will probably use tony's (i'm in louisiana) for the seasoning because that's his fave and he swears that nothing else tastes good (roll eyes) or i could use lemon pepper marinade?
LOL! I did the engagement chicken too and within 3 months we were engaged. :)
:)
I hadn't ever heard of this but I'll be sure to tell all my girlfriends ;)
My FH would love this story, I'm showing him!! (he'll probably ask me to make the chicken!)
Okay so let me get this straight, two girls same chicken.... hell yes I'm trying this tomorrow.
I love Joanna Goddard!! She's one of my favorite bloggers AND she is getting married next weekend. What a cool engagement story (the chicken AND the glamour blog)!
That is too cool! I've never heard of Engagment Chicken before....note-to-self Pick up ingredients and practice cooking.
Thanks ladies!
Do the engagement chicken!!
Crebre: I think tony's seasoning would be DELISH!!! Lemon pepper marinade would work too. You can put anything on it!
I had never heard about the e-chicken but what a fun story! Congrats to you both!
Thats awesome congrats! Ive read smitten a few times on Glamour.com..shes getting married herself. Cute pics...I never heard of the engagement chicken either. But congrats again! :)
Oh, that is just too cute of a story! And also congrats on the engagement and being on Glamour.com!
So cool! We're already engaged, but maybe if I make the chicken he will magically want to actually start planning!
How cool! You know, I've heard stories about The Engagement Chicken, but I've never known anyone who tried it out. Awesome!
That is pretty cool! I have heard of the engagement chicken before. Maybe I should have made it sooner then I could be married by now :)
I made this chicken too! The proposal happend about a month later (I'm sure it didn't help that we had company when I made it). My Bear still raves about it, saying it's the best chicken ever. I should make it again soon. :)
What a neat story!! Thanks for sharing and congrats on getting in the Glamour blog!
Allright dammit I'll try it. And I will tell him he has to eat the whole darn thing!
"Part II" of our proposal was featured in Smitten too: http://www.glamour.com/sex-love-life/blogs/smitten/2009/08/the-cutest-proposal-ever-you-g.html
I love that blog!!
Soooooo what happens if the boyfriend can't eat chicken? My boyfriend is a pescatarian thanks to some liver issues where he can't digest meat proteins! :) I love him anyway, but it makes cooking alot harder since I'm a dyed in the wool meat and potatoes girl!

Hi bees!
I'm a devoted Glamour blog reader and have followed their "engagement chicken" stories. Basically, it's a chicken you make when you want to get engaged! Well, it worked!! I e-mailed my story to an editor there and was lucky enough to have it posted! Read our story here!!
