I haven’t posted a picture of my ring on the Bee yet… and I decided I want to. 😛
But every ring has a story!
So without further ado, our story and the ring:
The Man and The Couch
My fiance and I had been dating for about 5 years when he popped the question.
He proposed in September ’12, on the couch in our living room. We had talked about getting married, but I had no clue it was actually happening until it did.
It was a Sunday, and we had just come back from a 7-day cruise to Bermuda. I asked him to help me fold down the futon, but didn’t get off the couch (I was being a bum haha). He got down as if to open the futon… and pulled out a ring box! I realized he had actually got down on one knee.
He began to speak to me, a slightly nervous speech… my ears started ringing and I couldn’t hear what he said (sorry hun) until he said “Will you marry me?”
Still dumbfounded, and in true form to my ever-classy self, I replied, “Are you serious?!”
“You’re serious?” (still bringing the classy here)
And then we unfolded the futon and spent the next three hours staring at the ring, crying, giggling, and talking about our future.
My joke is that all I wanted was a nap and instead, I got engaged!
My fiance worked with the jewler for a couple of months to design a special ring. The jewler made special trips to the city for him, taught him all about metals and diamonds, and guided him through the process. FI’s friend (who used the same small-town jewler for his proposal) was kind enough to pick up the ring on Saturday while we were vacationing in Bermuda, and FI picked it up from his friend right after we got back from the trip (I didn’t even know).
FI picked the perfect ring for me – it’s the perfect setting (sleek and modern, and a little different), the right size stone (.86 carat) for my tiny size 5 finger, it can take a beating (ahem), and it didn’t cost him an arm and a leg (important to me).
Thanks for reading! 🙂
