I figured it has been long enough- I could share some pictures from the big day- especially since I loved our photographer, Aaron Borchers (and Brandon Comstock) from Aaron Borchers Photography in Des Moines, Iowa. Though our wedding was in Colorado, my mom is a photographer and I didn’t want her working on my wedding day, so she was in charge of booking the photographer.
Here are a couple of getting ready- I especially like this shot!
All of my bridesmaids had a designer to choose from and picked their own dresses- they still looked really cohesive but all were comfortable. I actually had one bridesmaid (who has been in 10 weddings) tell me she hates strapless dresses and was almost in tears when I told her she could wear whatever she wanted- even straps!
Dad walking me down the aisle- the only time you can really see the slit in my dress- was so discrete but unique at the same time
I asked my dad he had to keep me from crying as we walked down the aisle. He told me that he would make sure that wouldn’t happen! This was the result… Not exactly the most glamorous shots of me but it was hilarious! He has this pair of fake “Billy-Bob” teeth that he just thinks are the funniest things ever- he put them in as he was giving me away!
The sun came out from behind the clouds as the officiant was speaking about our relatives who had passed that were looking down on us- was especially cool for my husband who’s father passed away a year ago.
My husband and dad made these and I painted them- I wanted people to be able to enjoy themselves while there and it also gave a lot of the kids something to do in between the ceremony and dinner! I also sewed the bags out of duck cloth- we have even used them since!
The centerpieces and table runners were all hand-made by my mom, my grandma and I! I spent too much time sewing lace onto burlap for the table runners.
This was our guest book- we asked guests to write words of advice or wishes for us on the small pieces of cloth. One of my bridesmaid’s mom’s cut all the cloth pieces out for me and volunteered to make a quilt for us. It will be something we can look at and treasure forever.
I didn’t put really any pictures from the reception here since they are more exciting for us than they would be for anyone else. I did want to post just this one of my husbad and I- it was not even during our first dance- just a candid of us dancing at sme point in the night. I love this one!!

@cseyler: Those pictures are gorgeous ! I especially like the first one (it’s unusual to take that kind of picture of corset dress – stunning !) and the garter one. I love the burlap centerpieces, they look gorgeous. And I’m so happy to see you incorporated orange in your palette. I moved my wedding to August instead of January and I struggle so much with colors. It seems all the colors I like are more wintery (silver, black, eggplant) or traditionally linked to autumn (again, purple/eggplant, orange). It’s great to see how you incorporated orange to a rustic, summer wedding !

@NauticalDisaster: Thank you so much. We had wanted to do our flowers with burgundy and dark orange. We really liked those two colors but didn’t want the girls in them- I wanted a color that looked good on most/if not all of them. The colors worked out perfect and the flowers popped against their navy dresses (even though the only flowers that were supposed to be colorful were mine and all the bridesmadis were supposed to be white- surprise for me while getting ready, but I realized there was nothing I could do about it so I just let it go). I was happy with how the centerpieces turned out also!
