Today, our STD’s arrived – so exciting! They’re postcards and we ordered them from Vistaprint.com – 50 STD’s with colour print back, double gloss and shipping all came to less than $35! Bargain!
We do have guests attending from interstate and we’d like to give them time to save for flights/hotel, if need be.
Our wedding day is on a Friday, which isn’t too common here – so, many people will need to arrange time off from work.
Now, when should we send them? How should we address the postcards? We won’t be using envelopes, so need to be mindful of limited room on the card as the left half is taken up by our design.
Also, would we be able to attach a self-adhesive magnet to the back of our postcard, or will Australia Post not accept it?
For those who want to see our design 🙂

Very nice! Am unsure of magnets in post.. Have you checked Australia Post website? They do put most of their requirements on there. If not you may have to ask someone at your local post office. Sorry I can’t help!

@Kili: Thanks! 😀
@BlondeBee: Thank you! We’re pretty happy with it! It’s simple and quite fun. STD’s aren’t overly common around here, so I think most people will be excited to get them.
Back to my question though, when should I send them out? And how should I address them? We’re not 100% sure we’re inviting kids yet, so need the option for that as well as just adult(s).

@Dancing-in-September: Thanks 🙂 I’ll definitely do that!

@JL4SM: Save the dates typically go out about 6 months in advance. But that date can range depending on travel. If you have a lot of folks coming from a distance or internationally, sometimes they go out earlier.
I know the picture at the bottom is of the US, but maybe the guidelines are the same is Australia? There are plenty of bees from there on the boards, so they will know better than me, but this image is always helpful:

i sent mine out 6 months before, but my engagement is only 8 months.
you can send the Save-The-Date Cards anywhere from 6-12 months in advance.
my Save-The-Date Cards were postcards also, $25 for 100 from Vistaprint.
i just made address labels and stuck them on the postcard. the labels fit in the space provided.
here are mine:
