- Wedding: October 2010
We had a simple, private ceremony in a small pavillion beside a lake where my husband used to play when he was a child. The weather was perfect for autumn, not a drop of rain! There were a few mishaps:
The white-collared shirt my husband kept insisting he had was actually his father’s old wedding shirt that was too snug to button and fit him up to his bellybutton! We went to look for a shirt last minute to no avail and so instead of doing my boquet the day before, I had to do it the day of the wedding — which drastically cut into my prep-time (I’ve never made a boquet before)! He couldn’t wear the wedding tie that I painstakingly matched my dress with and he ended up using a black tie we bought during our last vacation to California with a grey business shirt he had in the closet. That coupled with my curling-iron not working properly, forgetting my make-up in the car and not reapplying, and my photographer never moving my already messed-up hair out of my face.
Aside from all of that, it was magical and casual and everything we wanted.
