Since we decided to stay on the “mainland” for the wedding, we are bringing Hawaii to the Mainland, for our VINTAGE HAWAIIAN themed wedding. It has been pretty hard to find “old hawaii/vintage hawaiian” wedding photo’s, but here is what I have collected, let me know what you think. Mahalo!

Very pretty! It doesn’t scream Hawaiian to me, but I think if you incorporated some big conch shells, and careful selection of flowers, etc it would be gorgeous! I love the idea! Do you or your FI have any Hawaiian roots or do you just really like the style/vibe? Oooh you could do a big roasted pig! (Don’t yell at me, I know everyone has different thoughts on that, I think it’s awesome.)

I like the mood board, but i have to agree with bakerella … it screams summer, but not really hawaii … i think the shells would be great, and the flowers would really be a good way to tie it all together.
eta: I really love the theme tho

That’s an awesome idea for a theme! 🙂 I bet it will be really fun. I would definitely use bright colors and lots of natural wood, I think that and the flowers will give it the Hawaiian feel.

Thank you! I agree, it is lacking in some areas. I just need to find the right flowers, decor, etc. I am Hawaiian, but born and raised in Seattle. My dad is from Hawaii, so I grew up with the hawaiian culture, the food, etc. My fiance is Filipino, but born and raised in Hawaii..and just moved to the mainland 4 years ago.
We are doing the roasted pig (Kalua Pig)..haha. But it will be cut up and prepared before the day of the wedding. I love the “old hawaii” pictures/post cards. I might have to turn to the history books and go to the library, or find older hawaii movies.
Your thoughts are appreciated! Thanks!

Oh i’m with you about the vintage post cards and posters. That’s why i stopped to read your post!!! You could look at allposters.com …. I have some posters of duke kahanamoku hanging up in our basement from there, but i’m sure you can google and find tons of stuff. It’s a great theme!!

i actually really like it!!! our wedding has an old hawaii feel to it (we’re both from hawaii and our weddings here too!) and thats the type of ‘hawaii’ we’re sticking with.
i personally dont like the bright flowers with the coconuts and sand and stuff because hawaii really isnt like that…not the old hawaii anyway.

I love this! We are getting married in Hawaii and I’m hosting a party after the wedding on the mainland. Finding it hard to figure out how to incorporate a flavor of Hawaii but not over the top. If you have any ideas that worked well, I’m all ears. Thinking about incorporating a lot of palm into arrangements but having a hard time finding catering that can add to this.
