That is so awesome!!! Do they have pics of actual brides and grooms during a ceremony with the valcano?
We did the legal ceremony in Vegas, so we had to do something cheesey, and totally Vegas. So we did the Elvis wedding in front of the Vegas sign. Totally loved it, but I can see that being from there, you'd want to do something different.
Please, please come back and post some pics (and send some adult tatertots ASAP!!)

I've found a few, one is a daytime volcano ceremony that I found on the Knot. I haven't found any evening ceremonies with the volcano errupting, but here is an evening ceremony picture and a daytime picture.

I LOVE your pictures! Vegas weddings are so much fun!
I will definitely post pictures- eventually! :)
Just make sure to hire a photographer that can handle the high contrast between you guys in the foreground and the bright, errupting volcano in the background. Make sure to check the digital pics. We had to redo our Vegas photos the next day because the photographer (that came with the package) had it on the wrong setting.
@mmsva: We're not going to go with a package photog if I can help it. We'll likely hire the same photog that did our e-pics on anotherone that I have my eye on, Deacon Tyler. One of the advantages of living here is being able to meet the vendors.
Here are some pictures that I (a very untalented photographer) captured during our trip in January. It isn't too difficult to really get some dramatic shots you just need to take several in immediate progression to get it all.

@Treejewel19: Your pictures are definitely better than mine! We hadn't planned on taking any, but last minute FI snapped a few with the camera we'd brought along. Photography is super important to me though, so we'll definitely be shopping around and grilling - er, interviewing- different photogs. I have a couple in mind.
This is super cool! I had no idea they have weddings in front of the volcano, but it's totally awesome!
@Mrs. Spring: I'm glad you think so! I didn't either but my FI acted like I totally should have known. Uh, I'm not a Las Vegas wedding guru? Haha.
@Aure: I live in Vegas too..over 20 years now. The Mirage volcano exhibition is ok...I will say it puts off alot of heat you dont expect as well. Its a personal opinion. Personally, I dont care for it and I wouldnt suggest any of my brides wed there but its all in what you are looking for.
@Vegasvixen: We went to see it and I enjoyed it. I'm aware of the heat (I mentioned it in my first post). I was simply asking if you, as a guest, would enjoy it. Not if you, as a planner, would recommend it.
@Aure: It is hot, true. However, the heat and show doesn't last forever so I as a guest wouldn't be miserable at all. It is outdoors and heck they can bring fans if they want.
I think it would be awesome!! I love off beat weddings, and I think yours definitely fits :)
@Treejewel19: It's also be in November, so it's not going to be the blazing heat of the summertime, either. It might actually be welcome depending on how chilly the day is. :)
@MrsSl82be: Thank you! I wanted something different, but not something that would put my parents or FILs into shock. I can tell my mom thinks it's a bit tacky, but my dad is preparded to wear a sarong and dance along to the tiki music, haha!
@LucyLaLa: I don't have my pictures here at work with me, but here's one of the stock ones...

You pick up a slice of the steak with chopsticks and place it on the "Hot Rock," which is super hot! You leave it there for 4 seconds, flip it and let it steam and sizzle for another 4 seconds and then eat it. I was skeptical, but it was very delicious!
@Aure: that looks and sounds amazing! And I totally did not see your poll, but I can see we both agree, that yes, it will be awesome! ;) I can't wait to see the recaps!

I'm pretty sure my FI and I have decided upon a venue! We both live in Las Vegas and were looking for a fun venue that was Vegas-y without being a drive-through or hosted by Elvis. I also want a small wedding. When I realized that the Mirage did weddings in front of their volcano, I was sold!
Awesome, right?!
One problem- I had never seen the volcano errupt before! Yes, I live in Las Vegas (have for a while) but I had never seen the Volcano! This had to be fixed. My FI and I decided to take a trip down to the strip and check it out.
First though, we had to have dinner and I knew just the place! Well, I's never been there before, but I'd read about them! There is a restaurant in the Mirage called Stack and their menu had caught my eye for a potential reception dinner venue. Adut Tatertots?! I'm there!
We ended up ordering the "Hot Rocks" and Adult Tatertots to share. They were both awesome! The "Hot Rocks" are super thin slices of sirloin that you cook yourself on a super hot rock. They were amazing! The Adult Tatertots are tatertots injected with brie and bacon... delicous much!?
FI had their Kobe burger and I had the Penne. I swear, their penne was the most delicious pasta I've ever had- and I eat a lot of pasta! Our drinks were great too! We took a ton of pictures of the food for research purposes but a lady at the table next to us thought we were trying to take pictures of each other and offered to take one of us. Can you tell I was embarassed?
After our amazing dinner we ventured out onto the strip to watch the Volcano. It goes off once an hour on the hour so we had to wait a bit for the next show.
It was worth it! They play some crazy tropical tiki music and use fire, water and lights to create an erupting volcano. You can feel the heat of the fire, it's intense!
I'm more excited than I was before! It's quirky and fun while still really cool (at least to me it's cool)! The ceremony only allows room for 25 people so we can keep it small like we had originally wanted.
We still have to meet with a coordinator at the Mirage and make the final decision, but what do you think Bees? Would you enjoy a volcano ceremony as a guest?
