After 4 months of waiting we just received it today and all I can say is wow. I'm not going to get picky about the lack of editing and montages and what not, but it looks like it was shot on a cell phone. I don't know what kind of camera it is but on one of the two cameras used, all the movements look like there are waves on the screen. If somebody moves fast they become so blurry you can't see them. It's like trying to watch tv on those old rabbit ear antennas. I just can't believe it. If we just had one of the guests get it on camcorder it would've looked better.

This was the one thing I didn't care about or research so I guess I paid for my mistake. We just got the service offered by our photographer. I figured since he's great himself he probably hires someone good for the video. WRONG.

On the bright side, when noone makes a sudden move or the cameraman is not trying to pan fast between from one person two another,  the wedding looks pretty, we look pretty, everyone looks so happy and it was nice reliving the day. It was also nice to see our first dance actually looked rather beautiful and my near wardrobe malfunction wasn't as bad as I thought.

I would've been more upset if I saw this right after the wedding but now that time has passed and we've moved on with life, I'm more blase about it. Maybe that's why they waited 4 months to send it. It's still a shame I paid $1500 for this.

Thats stinks! Videography is so expensive. Atleast you have something on video to watch though. I think it will be neat to go back and watch our wedding video (which I didnt originally even want.) Sorry that your video turned out that way though. I think I would be a little ticked but  **Its nice to know that the bride craziness does eventually wear off.**

Thanks for the sympathies. charmedlife. Upto this point I loved everything about our wedding, now I have an answer for the "if you could could do it differently" threads.

That's so upsetting! Thanks for sharing though, I know I'll be sure to research in the future. I've very impressed by how well you're handling it! I think I would loose my mind on someone! I hope you post some honest reviews around.

geez that totally sucks! is there anything you can do to get your money back? I understand the whole blase bit. life moves on.

I would however write a letter or post a review so a bride that does her research is forewarned on her google searches :)

I agree to leaving a review, and I'd also leave one with the videographer (who needs to know what went very, very wrong) and the photographer (who recommended this dude and should know exactly what he's recommending).

OK, I will get a backbone for once and write to our photographer about how bad it was. I doubt I'll get any money back but let's hear what they have to say...

I'm a little hesitant to write reviews online because I don't even know the videographer's name, only that it was a side service offered by our photographer. Any review I write would go under his name. I simply adore his work, and he's still working on our photo album; so I don't want to ruin that relationship by dragging his name through mud. I'm however thinking of letting our wedding coordinator know as she was the one who referred us. At least she can stop recommending them to other brides.

@meliss: If your photographer offered video as a side service, it is the photographers responsibily and their fault that the quality of your video is poor and they should be told that you're unhappy.

When my sister was looking for her vendors last year, she was offered a great deal for photo/video from a photographer she met at a bridal show.  Later when she met with her DJ, they suggested that she look for a separate vendor because of the way these package deals are generally done.  The DJ said that they outsource the video to someone else and in some instances, they don't even know who the videograher will be when you sign your contract.  The DJ said to make sure you could see work by and actually meet the video person before she signed anything because that is the only way you can be sure of the quality you'll get.  When she met with the photographer, they said they have samples, but she couldn't meet with the videographer, so she walked away and looked for companies that did each service separately like her DJ suggested.  You have to be careful with the companies that offer one stop shopping.  Some are good and reputalbe, but most are just greedy and out for more money.

If your photographer is reputalbe and takes responsibility for the work they are providing you, at the very least, they should offer to redo the video and take out the scenes that are blurry.  $1500 is not cheap for a video.  You should be happy with it.

    @meliss:

If you can get the original unedited footage the company I work at can probably turn it into something you'll enjoy.

Let me know and I can even provide a coupon.

Of course I'd try to get your money back, but be careful that you don't end up with no footage.

Thank you everyone for your concern. Our photographer did respond very nicely : "I'm so sorry to hear about the video. I'm going to do my best to fix this. I contacted the video company that I used to shot your video. They are going to make a new copy. I showed them your email. They do believe there must be some setting that could be off somewhere. "

He then sent me a clip they posted on the internet and said he can't see the problem I'm talking about. Of course they posted the one little clip where the problem doesn't happen...This video actually looks decent and pretty cool:

     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_1E0YZDMq4

So I told them to look at the ceremony and reception footage and they can't possibly miss what I'm talking about. It looks like maybe two cameras were used, one's fine and one's not. I wish they had a clip from the ceremony footage so I could show you guys how bad it is.

I'm really sorry you're dealing with this but yeah I agree just from watching the clip it's like they were using a small hand video camera and a very unsteady hand.  Just seemed very shaky.

I do think you looked gorgeous and loved your husbands reaction to seeing you :)

Hey Meliss, I do video and see what you mean. The issue looks like the frame rate settings they used to capture the film which cause jumps in the film due to movement. Each frame will look choppy if the frame rate per second captured is low. If they were going to do a ton of camera movement, they should have shot it at a higher frame rate. Also wished they would have not just kept cutting to panning and zooming shots of you above the balcony in their youtube edit. You looked beautiful and there were so many beautiful shots of you and moments captured in your photos I would like to have seen things like that included in the video. But ofcourse you have your memory, and it is clear and you look gorgeous, but I think he charged you too much.

@shanibee: Hey, I guess I never did an update on this. The photographer actually apologized and sent me re-edited copies. The shooting issues you described (you're obviously a lot more knowledgable with the technical lingo than I am, lol) did not change of course, but my main complaint with the blurry moving scenes were fixed in the new copies. He called it "banding". I made my peace with it, I wasn't expecting a top quality video anyways so I guess what I have now meets my expectations. We do watch it a lot and laugh at several things that we missed that day. I also am very vain and think I look better in the video than my photos :P I hope the videos last because I want to be a 70-year old grandma one day still watching my wedding dress twirl and proudly showing to my grandkids how their wrinkly grandma looked once.
