We just got our album in the mail and it is 2 weeks early!!! I am so excited! I was going to wait until Mr. Hedgie got home to open it but F that. I am too impatient. And I am so happy I did! It look Uh Mazing. Taking some pictures to show you guys doesn’t even come close to justice for this thing. And I was so nervous about it. We went through Blurb and I can’t reccomend this site enough.
-The pages I was really worried about looking too busy or crowded don’t even come close. They look busier on the computer but in person, they look perfect. Just enough going on.
-I did a 2 page spread last minute and was really worried about how the center would line up. I didn’t want to end up with an awkward missing image space in the picture. It turned out phenominal. It was the right picture to put there.
-There were a couple images I was really concerned about how grainy they looked online and was worried they would print the same. Well, they aren’t as cyrstal clear as other images but not very grainy at all. I am sure I only noticed it because I was looking at them with a fine tooth combe. They look great and a heck of alot better than I was afraid they would turn out.
-One image was blurrier than I remember it being on the computer and I am a little bummed about that but it is blurry, not grainy. So that probably means it happened in the camera and not the printer. Oh well. It isn’t bad. Just not what I expected.
About Blurb itself:
-We did order the sample paper pack (you do have to buy it but they reimburse you when your order your book) which I HIGHLY recommend because the paper I was going to order, we decided against. We actually went with a cheaper paper because we thought the contrast was better.
-When I was making the book I had a question for customer service and e-mailed then. Be warned. The guy I dealt with acted like all this technical stuff was totally common knowledge and I should know what it all means and what to do with it. He wasn’t very user friendly and pretty rude. I never got my question answered because he refused to get off his high horse and explain any of it. Oh well. It worked out in the end WITHOUT his arrogent help.
-The fact that I can add as many or as few pictures as I want and can create my own layout and size my pictures how I want it awesome. Their book maker is super easy to use and super cool. You can use preset layouts, add backgrounds, wording, or little designs if you want. We chose not to do any of that but that was just our preference.
-You have numerous options for hardback, softback, image wrap, dust cover, plently of sizes, shapes, and endless pages. They charge based on all that and their prices are pretty good compared to what you can get elsewhere. You can also share your book online with family and, if they want, they can order it as an e-book! Seriously! For cheap too!
Even though they wont do the book justice, here are some pictures. We ordered the large landscape, image wrap, with the premium lustre paper. We did a custom design.
