Due to some circumstance changes we are looking at complete overhaul of our plans (good thing we still have time and have not signed any cotnracts yet)
so now we are thinking of a may 2014 date, with an outdoor ceremony and then reception to follow at the same location (the family farm) has anyone done an out door ceremoney, or been to one? how did it work out?
I”m worried about weather (can have a tent on stand by) the timing, since we’ll just lead straight into the cocktail hour and dinner. anyone have any insight?

That sounds very similar to what I’ve got planned – the ceremony, then the reception straight after in the same location. With regards to the weather, you’ve just got to plan for the worst and hope for the best, unfortunately, but if you’ve already looked into marquees, then I think you’ll be fine in that regard.
As for timing my fiance and I are thinking of doing a few photos together before the actual ceremony, so we don’t have to leave for two hours while everyone else is at the reception. We’ll probably sneak off for a bit to get a few more photos, depending on how many we got prior to the ceremony and to take the photos with our families, etc.
What times are you actually planning to have everything, and what time do you want the reception to finish? If you’re planning on having a reception until late in the evening, then you can probably get away with taking photos during the cocktail hour. Unfortunately, fiance and I want our reception all finished by about 5pm, so we’re doing photos first, so we can relax and spend the reception with everyone properly.

since it’s a family farm we can go late. but I think I’d like everything wrapped up by midnight. so serving dinner at 6, cocktalil hour at 5, but I was thinking a 3 or 4 pm ceremony.
we’d have ot run shuttles to the hotel, so we’d like to have everyone come on the shuttles, there will be some that won’t and they can park, but for everyone that came from out of town (90% of guests) on the shuttles to arrive. I don’t know that we’d have time to do photos after so would be before??
too much stuff to think about because this will totally change my theme (color scheme would be about the same)

I plan on doing photos with my family and BMs 2 hrs before the ceremony and when FI arrives at the venue, him and his family and GM will take their pics and hr before. After the ceremony, we will take pics together and with our family altogether. I’m thinking that shouldn’t take over an hr. In the meantime, we are having lawn games and table games and appetizers and drinks for cocktail hr so that will keep out guests pretty busy and help pass the time for them.
