@MeadowsBee:  Hrm this is a dilemma better fixed sooner rather than later. She might have booked her ticket for so far in advance of the wedding bc she assumed her and her SO didn’t have to pay for a hotel. I would just ask her to send you her confirmation for her hotel so that you know where to take her. If she says she assumed she would stay with you, tell her you’re so sorry but the house is already full. Is it going to be full all week? Maybe you can have her stay for as long as possible until people start coming in and then have her move to a hotel to save on cost?

@MeadowsBee:  you should have told her that before she booked her flight. How do you know they can afford a hotel on top of everything else?! You’ve put them in a really bad position and you need to let her know right away that you have a full house and you feel very bad but there just isn’t enough room for them to stay with you

I agree with PP, if you can accomodate her for any amount of time, it would help your friend save on hotel costs. Do you have a sibling or another friend who knows her? Maybe she can stay with someone else. It wouldn’t be too uncomfortable unless people weren’t welcoming.

Does DH have other relatives who some of his out of town relatives can stay with? I realise this might be hard to do if he’s already said yes to them, but can you rationalise it by saying that you can’t only house DH’s side, you want to house someone from your side too? I mean, 8 people… who are all these relatives of DH? Can they all really not afford to stay somewhere else?

Or does the bridesmaid know anyone else in your city – are her or her husband from there? Perhaps once you say, “Sorry we don’t have room”, she’ll be able to think of someone.

I feel for you, this is hard.
