Our reception will be outside, but under a tent. Lighting will run ANOTHER $1200 and we’re trying to be uber cheap, so we’ll be stringing Christmas lights from the top of the tent. When looking for centerpieces, I’ve been looking for something tall that I could use candles with-the more light, the better. I just don’t want it to be DARK DARK.
Dear Fiance and I were walking through walmart today and somehow we ended up in the garden section. I don’t know if this was a moment of brilliance or total ignorance, but we had a thought.
What if we took one of the solar lights that you line your walkway with…put a “halo” of flowers around it, and put it in the top of a tall vase-like an eiffel tower vase?
This is just what we tossed together in Walmart….but what do you think?
This is a pic with it “hidden” in an emtpy shelf to see it lite up.
What do you think?

Honestly I personally don’t like them but thats me- the important thing is do you like them?
What about something like this:
or maybe use light bases in vases or something else?

If you buy the lights you could always dismantle them and put the solar/light portion into a jar. There was a post somebody did this with mason jars. I was going to do it, but our centerpiece idea changed. I’m sure you could translate it to other types of vases and jars easily!
By The Way for some reason I absolutely love that you said “Go forth and be crafty.” I’m going to have to start using that…

I think candles are much more romantic and prettier and effectively do the same job. You can get packets of Pillar candles from the $2 shope and for holders, you could have them inside vases or perhaps have a glazier cut you a bunch of Mirror peices to place them on for cheap. You could also do a bunch of tealight candles down the centre of the tables alongside your centrepeices – I bought 80 frosted glass tealight holders for $40 and they look beautiful when they glow. I really love lots of candles at weddings, they really make the room feel warm, inviting and just beautiful.

J Jayne, thank you for the links! Maybe you’re right…I could look into some other source of lighting?
FlorettaLiz- Thank you 🙂 Go forth and use the “go forth and get crafty” line. lol!

I personally don’t like it. I don’t think it has a soft romantic glow. I’d go with candles. Get some tealights/pillar candles and go at it. They’re not too expensive. If you have IKEA near you check out candle holders there. You can get reversible stick candle/tea light candle holders for like $0.50 each. Depending on how many tables you’d need it may not be too expensive 🙂

I think that it’s the beginning of a great idea? Love the lights ideas but I think you need to play with it some more and come up with some more mock-ups. I definitely see inspired potential. <3
P.S. LOVE the poll options! All. Of. Them. I lol’d…at work…when I’m not even supposed to be on the internet…
