I’m almost three months out from my wedding and am starting on my out of town guest bags. I think the best bags I have seen really incorporate the couple and the community in which they are getting married into the bag’s contents.
So far I know we are including:
Water (beautiful blue glass Saratoga Springs bottles that I got for free!)
Advil (for the morning after)
Apples (from my favorite local orchard)
Whoopie Pies (a yummy New England treat where my fiance is from)
Tissue Packs (for tears at the wedding)
I’ve thought about granola bars, chips, mints, nuts, etc, but was hoping to add a few more local area goods. Anyone have ideas or know of a local snack company?
Thanks in advance!

I’m from NYC but plan to have my wedding and festivities in the lower hudson valley area. Here are some local places I have found. These are businesses I have found through searching online, and have not actually been to or tried any of their products.
Hudson Valley Dessert Company Saugerties, NY
Granola Jo Oswego, NY
Krause’s Chocolates Saugerties, NY

Mmm… I just looked at the Krause’s Chocolate page! In particular their fudge has my mouth watering and wondering how I can incorporate it into our wedding! Thank you for the ideas, Starrienyte – I’ll keep them in mind for when I put together OOT bags in about a year!

What about kettle corn? There are lots of vendors at various fairs and carnivals in the summer months and I’ve seen some that have mail order sales. Perhaps you could get some?
Also maybe check out Adam’s Fairacre Farm (http://www.adamsfarms.com/sweets.htm) they have an awesome sweet shop, bakery, etc and use local stuff. They have a location in Poughkeepsie.

These are all great ideas! Thanks so much!

There’s also some great wineries in the area if you wanted to do mini bottles of wine, or maple syrup is a big New England staple.
Here’s a Hudson Valley maple farm that sells pancake mixes and such too!
Their apple crisp mix is delicious!
