What are some fun activities to do with out of town guests?

Have you ever gone to a destination wedding? What are some of the best things you did with the bride and groom?

I think local attractions are great. We are going to do the standard "pool" thing with our guests. But I'm also going to organize a kayaking excursion. And a croquet tournament (and they have to wear their "whites!")

There aren't many tourist attractions right where I'm having my wedding, because its on a private island... but those are a few of the local things I'm going to do.

I'm also thinking about hosting a bonefire on the beach!

BeachBrideT, I love the bonfire idea. I may have to use that as well, I'll have to check for permits.

We took ours to a University of Texas football game.  It was really fun, but required a lot of planning (tickets are hard to get), was expensive ($75/ticket), and won't work for most (it has to be football season, you need to have a university nearby, and games usually fall on Saturdays).  However, I think other sporting events could also work well. I know others that have done MLB games, esp since at a lot of venues, it's easy to get a large block of cheap seats.

Think of local tourist things that you forget to take advantage of because you live so close.  Most of our guests went wine tasting.  You'd be surprised if you go to your local city center or tourist bureau to find out all kinds of quirky things about your city that you don't even take advantage of!

Penguin, I love that idea, their is a winery about 5 minutes from our hotel, and it has $5 tastings and you can keep the glass! :)
