FH and I got engaged while vacationing Italy, afterwards I asked him what he did with the ring during the flight and he said, "I checked it", my mouth literally dropped open. I then asked what he would have done if the luggage was lost and he tells me that he figured we would be there 10 days so it would have time to catch up. I am way to Type A to be so laid back about something like this, but everything worked perfectly and in the end, it taught me to let go a little bit and let fate do its thing.
we got engaged in costa rica and had no issues with traveling with the ring. my fiance put it in his carry on--he put the ring box in a fishing lure case hahaha. we didn't get stopped or anything in customs or checked by security, but he told me that if we HAD been stopped and if they HAD pulled the ring out of the box, he would have proposed right there in the airport.
Ours turned out to be on a day trip out of town. We had a vacation/conference trip a few weeks earlier, but he decided that getting a ring through security was too hard. So he planned a day trip out of town to one of our favorite hiking areas.
We got engaged while in vacation in nyc, and we don't check bags. He just put it on the carry on. They didn't ask to see it, it just looks like a ring in the x ray. He probably just got randomly selected to look through his bags, I don't think it would happen that often. If your fiance was smart he'd send you to go get a coffee/smoothie while he gets searched :P
We got engaged on a trip but DH and I were long distance at the time so we weren't travelling together to get there. That said, unless you have something else in your bag that causes them to want to search it, no one in security is going to want to pull out an e-ring. That just isn't at all the type of thing that would concern them. It really isn't difficult to travel with jewelry ....
We met up in San Francisco (we were both going to be there for work and it's one of our favorite cities), so he was on a different flight. The work factor made it extra unexpected, as we have a vacation to Argentina coming up and I was thinking it would be then!
My FI proposed to me on vacation. He cleared through security no problem with it. Though he did say he was super anxious, but if they would have stopped him he would have proposed right there. However he also didn't declare having something valuable when we got to our destination so he was worried they were going to ask, but no problems.

For those bees that got proposed to on a vacation or something that required your bf to bring the ring on the plane, how did he manage it? My bf said he was looking up "bad proposals" haha and said that one guy tried to bring the ring through security and they checked it and the girl ended up seeing the ring due to security going through the bag.
We're going on a trip this weekend and I'm wondering if he was just saying that so I wouldn't think this is "the" weekend, ha. He said a proposal was coming, just "not in Toronto"..
HMM?
