FH and I really want an outdoor wedding….i always freak about weather though…i really don’t want to have to move it indoors if it turns out to be a rainy day…. is it wierd or unheard of to have a different day set aside altogether in case of rain??
a bit more info: we’re planning on having not too many vendors…. family is contributing to food, mostly everything will be DIY…and the place where we’re getting chairs and tables is very flexible so switching dates with them isn’t a problem…..i’m also not opposed to ANY saturday in September….i of course wouldn’t keep changing the date constantly at the last minute because of rain….but i just wondered if anyone’s ever done this or am i insane for thinking about it???

I kinda think you are insane for considering it.
When are you going to make the call?
Are you going to ask guests to reserve both dates for you?
Honestly it sounds more like a logistical nightmare than just having a rain plan.

It’s a wedding not a concert. It will be way too much work to call people to tell them there’s a rain date.
Rent a tent to be on the safe side

From what I have seen, most people just secure another venue as a “backup” on the same date in case of inclement weather. If that is a tent, or an indoor hall, so be it. But I think having a whole separate date might be a little too much for most of your guests. Keep it simple!
