Our ceremony is outside on grass. I’ve often hated getting to a wedding in heels not knowing this fact. Some options I thought about (anyone doing this/have opinions?)
- Flip flops/plastic heel protectors for guest
- Note on website about garden ceremony
- Do nothing 🙂

@FoodieBride14: A flip flop basket might work, particularly for dancing later anyway!

I vote for putting a note on the website, no flip flops.

Note. but then again I hate flip flops

I think that noting the fact that the ceremony will take place on grass, and providing the plastic heel protectors would be the perfect solution. I personally have a very strong dislike of flip-flops being worn for any type of elegant occasion.

I quit wearing heels long ago, so i’d be fine in my flats…BUT if I did decide to bust out the heels, I’d prefer heel protecors over flip flops that might not match my outfit…and that would either clutter up my closet for months afterward or end up in the trash. Just a waste in my opinion. Definitely put it on the website.

- Wedding: November 2012 - Oak Tree Manor
Put a note on the website – I hate flip flops, and the ones given out at weddings are always so cheap that they do end up in the trash immediately afterwards. I think it’s kind of a waste to be honest – better to let your guests know what to expect and they can plan accordingly!
Are your cocktail hour and reception indoors? Or on a paved area?
We had our whole wedding outside under some big oak trees, and we let everyone know that so they could plan on bringing flip flops or flats. We rented a dance floor so at least the dancing part was on a solid surface.

Thanks – this was so helpful. Think I am going to go with a definite note on the site and possibly offer heel protectors. @Brielle – totally!!
