You could try Peebles Island. There are some wide open grassy areas and you could probably get the river in the background. Or, there might be someplace on the RPI campus where you could take pics.
Frear Park has some really nice views. There is a golf course and a park, its definitly on the way from Waterford to Troy. < alt="Outdoor Photos : wedding photography upstate new york " / p>
RPI has some nice views, but they are mostly overlooking the city. There is the approach, on 8th street, which is a long set of marble stairs overlooking Troy. < alt="Outdoor Photos : wedding photography upstate new york " / p>
Emma Wilard is really nice, maybe a little out of the way, and the architecture is amazing. They've shot tons of movies there. It's up off Pawling Ave. < alt="Outdoor Photos : wedding photography upstate new york " / p>
If your going to be downtown, I really love the Sage Building, it was an old church that Sage Collage took over. This isn't the best picture but gives you an idea..< alt="Outdoor Photos : wedding photography upstate new york " / p>

Hello. I agree that outside of Sage is beautiful. Although I believe the one big tree in front of Bush Memorial (the big white building) is now gone. But that area is gorgeous. There are also some pretty courtyard gardens on campus if you can get someone to show you the way!
Thanks, all. These are very helpful suggestions!
I am an alum of Russell Sage and I took my e-photos there. It is a small campus but my photographer loved it there and we spent nearly an hour and a half wandering around. At the center of campus (right where the tunnel runs through) there is a directory. Right between Spanish House and French House (they are on first street and clearly marked) there is a gate which will take you to a beautiful courtyard with a fountain and beautiful French architecture. The gate is sometimes locked but there are other ways to get back there. I recommend you take a walking tour of the campus and find all of the little hidden areas. If you call public safety ahead of time I’m sure they wouldn’t mind leaving the gate open for you on the day of your wedding. I only wish I could take my wedding photos there but Scotia is too far of a drive to make the day of.
Hey Thanks! I'll have to go check it out when I get home the week before th wedding-- that sounds like a great place for photos.

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for good places to take outdoor photographs with bridal party and just the Fi and I in either Waterford or Troy. We have a limited amount of daylight after the ceremony at St. Mary's in Waterford, so if you know if a convenient spot we could go I'd really appreciate it! We plan to get a few city/street shots around the Franklin Plaza so we're mainly looking for a green space.
