In Orlando, I am having my reception at the Taproom at Dubsdread and it's gorgeous. I am so so excited that I found that venue that is not your normal reception site. It's got exposed wooden beams in the main reception room and a gorgeous stone fireplace. There is also a brick patio outside where there is space for an outdoor ceremony and it's covered by a big oak tree. And Cathie and Christiana who are the wedding coordinators are amazing to work with. I know I've mentioned the Taproom before but I just cannot wait for our reception there!
And it's 5 min. north of Downtown Orlando, so your guests could enjoy all Central Florida has to offer.
check out Wild Acres Farm in Paisley, Florida. My fiance and I went and looked at it in the begginning stages of our planning and fell in love. Ultimately we went with a different place because it was a little out of the way for our guests. But if all your guests are going to be out of towners it wouldnt matter. I think its about an hour from Orlando.
Thanks ladies, I'm going to havr to check out the Taproom, although I can't seem to find many pictures of it online.
Here are a few pictures I've found and taken of the Taproom. Can you tell I love our venue?
I got a few from Pilster Photography. The ones outside are personal ones I took and one is from their facebook page.
Sorry they are so big!

My husband's friend is the wedding coordinator here- the photos I've seen always look very charming and lovely
@g8rgirl1020: Thank you so much for posting your comments and the pictures of the Dubsdread Ballroom. My husband and I went there last week to check it out and we are going to have a vow renewal there in August 2012. We had a courthouse wedding due to personal issues and can't wait to have a ceremony there with/reception. It is beautiful without being pretentious. We could not find anything that moved us until we saw it. And, it is very reasonable. We had lunch there and if it was any indication of the food at the reception, our guests will be very happy. Thanks again.
Yay- I'm so glad I could help! I love that venue and am counting down the days till our March 2011 reception there! And I was so surprised at the costs compared to other places we'd seen. Not sure if they mentioned it, but every so often Dubsdread does a tasting where I pretty much have all the food you could do for an event out and it's free for the couple to go and try the items. We already decided on our menu for the most part but got some ideas from it.
And while I'm bragging- Cathy is amazing to work with. She helped us work on a menu and was so accomodating when I wanted my family to see the rooms we would be using for the reception!

I just recently moved to Orlando and began the wedding planning process. I don't even know my way around town yet. So I don't know where to begin. My family is NY, the man's fam is in VA and we don't really want a northern wedding. We were hoping for an April outdoor wedding. I am having a hard time finding Florida venues that make my heart beat fast (at least that's what I want it to feel like it when I find "the place"). Since almost everyone coming to our wedding will be from our of town anyway, it doesn't really matter if the venue is Orlando, or Destin, or even Jacksonville, just as long as it's an area that easy to travel to and fun for our guests. Anywhere in central or north Florida would be worth condsidering. We will have approx 100 guests.
I do not want a beach wedding. I don't even want much of a fancy pants wedding. I would really love to get married on a farm or have a beautiful barn reception. Somewhere under a big moss draped oak tree would be a dream come true as well. I guess I'm just looking for a beautiful outdoor venue. Does this place exist? :)
