Hey y’all! I need your advice! I am recently engaged and my fiance and I would love to have a December 2014 wedding. I am in school and we have a lot of out of town guests, so Christmas time would be perfect because school will be out and people will be off work/school and be able to travel. I live in Louisana where the average December temperature is about 65 degrees. Our wedding will probably be outdoors. I am nervous about doing an outdoor wedding in the wintertime even though it is usually mild! Have any southern brides done this before? Do you think it would be too cold? We plan on renting outdoor heaters if there is a cold snap, but do you think that would be good enough? I don’t want my guests to be uncomfortable!

Hey there! I am also having a December New Orleans wedding! Our ceremony will be outdoors but I’m not too worried about it. I was in NOLA around Christmastime last year and was sweating in shorts and a T-shirt. While I don’t think it will be that hot, I think it will be pretty mild. I’d be more worried for a January – February wedding.
I’m not sure if you’re planning to have both your ceremony and reception outdoors — that might be too chilly, especially in the evening. Our ceremony is outdoor but we do have an indoor reception place (same venue).

@brittanysco: I live in NOLA, and the thing about December in Louisiana is that it can be very unpredictable! It could possibly be warm and muggy, but on the other hand it could more likely be in the 30’s or 40’s. I think you could probably pull it off, just have a good “rain plan” for just in case!
