My fiance and I live in central Illinois and will be getting married in mid-Febraury. We’ve decided we want an outdoor wedding to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere of late winter, and hopefully snowfall. The place we are having it is a state park and has a lodge for the reception hall to scurry too on location, where we will also be spending our mini honeymoon. We figure we’ll inform the guests of the location and they should be comfortable in coats, hats and scarves until the ceremony is over (we’ll keep it short) but I want to know how to keep my bridesmaids from freezing? And what shoes to have them wear? I’ll bear the cold and wear some long gloves, but I don’t want them to be too uncomfortable. Also are there any coats I can wear for outdoor pictures after the ceremony that will still look nice? Thank you!

how about something like that for your bridesmaids hands? you could decorate it with flowers or ribbons that have the same color like their dresses

I think long gloves, fluffy shurgs, and full length dresses (so they can wear some type of boots and stockings) would be best and really bring out the romance of a winter wedding
(sorry if this picture is huge)

@PaperCrane: Wow, I want that venue!

I would have the bridesmaids wear Uggs, or their own boots.
I definitely would get a cloak in white/ivory, or your wedding color, like the one a PP showed. They have this one at David’s Bridal (and you could probably find nicer ones at other stores): http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Satin-mid-length-cape-with-faux-fur-trim.-MDLNGTHCAP_Accessories-Wraps-Gloves-Sashes-Bridal. David’s also has this cute little jacket: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Long-sleeve-satin-bolero-jacket.-JS9228_Accessories-Wraps-Gloves-Sashes-Bridal.
Also, I am mega-jealous! Ever since Phoebe’s wedding on Friends, I have wanted an outdoor winter wedding. FH was pretty against it, though, so since I picked where we are getting married, I let him pick the date.
