Finally got my oval harrow gem put in a setting!
Sorry for the giant pic! Day we got engaged and my set on our wedding day, LOVE all of the ovals!
very much #teamoval
MY wife’s oval moissy. She just HAD to have a stack because I had one. Lol. 1.5 ct equivalent FB moissanite center.
Sierra1 : I got mine off of MyMoissanite shop on Etsy, but it was recently closed down for some reason, however one could still purchase through the online store mymoissanite.com. Communication was ok–seller would respond, but in just a few words, so she didn’t seem the friendliest, but I guess she’s just straight forward. It’s a pretty ring and I would always sneak glances of it the first week, but after a while the novalty of a new ring wore off, and I started seeing the flaws: the harro gem is rather lifeless, and the “crushed ice" only looks like crushed ice on video or in direct sunlight, but doesn’t really move the same way in person or out of the sun–that portion actually just stands still and is duller than the rest of the ring. Here’s a video of it:
This is actually how it usually looks if I’m not wiggling my finger around in bright light. I started wearing my original ring again and am actually thinking of selling that newest ring. 🙁
I like the the Forever One more because it looks a lot clearer and more diamond like. The Harro Gem oval looked almost plasticky in certain lighting. The only reason why I had chosen Harro Gem is because of their ability to make the crushed ice look, since most diamond ovals don’t really have the brilliant cut that most moissys are making.
The one think I don’t like about the FO though is its very apparent rainbow-effect, and I can tell the difference between my real diamond and the FO, however the FO looks a lot closer to a diamond than the HG. Some people really like that disco-ball look though, so it’s just a matter of opinon! To be honest, if money weren’t an issue, I’d just go for diamond every time. I keep getting new rings because I like to change my style a lot, and if my wallet permitted, they’d all be diamonds–I personally think they are the best looking of the white stones. My recommendation is to really look at them in person to see what you like. Online can be very deceptive. >.<
