Oh noes! You've reawakened my closet obsession with Pricescope forums!
Gorgeous ring, by the way, I love aquamarines!
I like both pics that you posted, and I agree that a slender band really wouldn't look bad at all. a slight gap isn't a huge ordeal.
However, I really think that if you just wanted a slim custom band with smaller stones, it would look great. And since I'm a sucker for colored stones, I could totally envision a custom curved band with tiny aquamarines! Plus, it would probably be less costly than diamonds. And just as blinged out!
Good luck, can't wait to see what you decide on!
By the way, did you buy the ring already set? Or did you buy the stone separately. I know the Pricescope regulars are total gemstone lovers, and I got interested.
Just curious! It's just very pretty!
My ring was already set when he bought it.
To be honest, I wouldn't have minded a couple diamonds thrown in there, but since they weren't worked into the design of the ring to start with, I don't know that it'll work to add them in the form of the wedding band now! :P
I love your ring! The cable work on the band reminds me of david yurman's jewelry, have you looked at any of his rings?
BEAUTIFUL! I posted about loving this shape awhile ago and google oval engagement rings all the time now! I agree with flipflops idea of the curved band with tiny aquamarines, that would be so pretty and really compliment your engagement ring. CONGRATS!
David Yurman? No, I haven't heard of him, but I will look him up!
Emmybren- yes, I LOVE oval shaped engagement rings! I'm so happy I got one!
I am loving the idea of a aquamarine band... I just have to find the right one!
...... Aaaaaand now I'm on Etsy and I can tell it's all going to go downhill from here. OMG this site is amazing!
Have you thought about wraps? There are wraps for oval shaped stones, but the only problem would be that they would obviously have a few enhancer stones, which would cover up some of the detail around your aquamarine...
I hadn't actually thought too much about wraps yet... good idea though! I'll look into it!

So I looooooooooove my ring... despite a few people's snide comments about how maybe sometime "when we can afford it" we can go upgrade to a "real" ring. Well, poo on them, it's exactly the ring I wanted and price had nothing to do with it!
No bitterness....
Anyway, I just realised (I'm a little slow) that we need to find a wedding band that will work with my e ring and not look like we took a midnight trip to the nearest Walmart.
Here's my ring:
It's made so that the band would have to go AROUND the stone, it can't go under it (which would have been sooo much easier!).
Something like this could possibly work, however, the diamonds tend to overpower my poor e ring (I went to the jeweler's and tried on something similar). It just doesn't jive with the overall style of my ring. :(

I tried on some curved bands, but they were also caked in diamonds and didn't fit right with my ring. The jeweler offered to customize the rings... maybe that's the route I should go.
Check out the picture posted by BlackIsland of her rings- maybe a straight, slender band wouldn't look so bad! : http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=74113
Maybe a straight band with more Aquamarines on it?
*GASP!!!* Oh my God, look at this!! http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/files/beverlyk_aqua.jpg
