Ovarian Cyst Ruptured

I’ve had several ovarian cysts. There was no treatment. You kind of want it to burst because if it doesn’t rupture on its own, they could have to surgically remove it.

@alysee:  If it’s ruptured and you’re not in pain, there probably won’t be any further treatment. I had a cyst that would not burst (it had twisted and was no longer growing, sort of a “dead” cyst if that makes sense), lots of pain, and had to have it surgically removed.  I wouldn’t worry too much about it!

I’m commenting to follow, as I’m curious. I have PCOS and I’m always worried about the cysts :/

@alysee:  My step daughter had this happen, but she was so terribly ill and in pain, fever, howling in agony…the whole she-bang.  They had to do emergency surgery and decided to take her appendix while they were in there since she’d had some trouble in the region AND her Dad had to have his removed…but if you’re feeling fine, I think you’re fine!

@Nona99:  I had my appendix removed at the same time, too! Are you my step mother??? (Don’t worry I don’t have one, but man if I did, I would want it to be Nona99!)

@LeSpice:  Are you on birth control? I was told when I started it it reduces the chances of cysts . And know most people, not just those with PCOS, get cysts during periods all the time, and they burst and we have no idea, it might just feel like normal cramps! It’s only when they grow larger that they are an issue for most.

I have a condition where they form and are constantly rupturing.

Only thing my doctors seem to be concerned about with this is the pain and scar tissue I’m forming.

It’s awful, sorry you had to go through it!

@love108:  I’m not! I was advised against it by my GP due to my anxiety issues, I may need to get a second opinion!

I had one burst in college, and it was AWFUL.  So painful.  My sister has had several, one had to be removed surgically, and my mom has had several as well.  There’s no treatment if it bursts, it just absorbs back into your body.

Oh man when mine burst it was excrutiatingly painful. If there is no pain there should be no problems! Mine was huge I guess and my stomach was visbly distended with fluid and it took a few days to go down but no treatment, just a wait it out thing.

@LeSpice:  Anxiety issues? Really? I have anxiety issues/am on an antidepressant and that was never part of the discussion…. There are many different types, I would definitely get a second opinoin. Now it might not be best (I don’t know a lot abotu PCOS so it may not be recomended in which case ignore me), but as someone without PCOS I was told by my GYN that it would reduce my risk…

@love108:  We might be threadjacking a little here, haha!
I have no idea why it plays a part, but I do have quite severe anxiety along with a whole host of issues! I’m guessing it played part in the reason he didn’t reccomend it, but I’ll definitely see what someone else has to say!

I have PCOS, many cysts and many ruptures. There is no treatment or cure. They just hurt like hell – I’ve been through child birth and the cyst ruptures are shorter but worse.

The doctor may tell you things that reduce the frequency of ruptures. I’ve tried them all. No such luck for me.
