Had my annual pap this morning and was talking to the doctor and she did my pelvic exam and found that there was about a 3cm growth in one of my ovaries. She wasn’t sure if it was a cyst or fibroids so I’m going back tomorrow for an ultrasound.
I suffered from extremely painful bursting cysts for a few years in my early twenties– most of the time I ended up in the ER because it was difficult to distinguish from possible appendicitis, however, each time, it turned out to be a burst cyst. The largest cyst I had (years ago), was golf ball size.
I’m almost 30 now and have not experienced anymore bursting cysts in probably about 5 years or so, but it’s not to say I haven’t had any cysts at all. I was on BCP for about 7 months about 7 years ago, and have not been on them since.
Since my husband and I are TTC, my doctor said I could run into complications, depending on what the ultrasound shows. She mentioned something about Depo Provera (I’ve heard mixed things on this for years) to possibly shrink the size of the cyst. She also mentioned surgery for fibroids (however, she mentioned it is uncommon), risk of misscarriage, and risk of post partum hemorrage– at that point I was on information overload and I was starting to panic.
I just wanted to hear from other bees who have maybe run into this before and hear what your stories are. Did you experience difficulties TTC? Did you experience difficulties in your pregnancy because of cysts and/or fibroids?
Thanks ladies 🙂
