I like the first one with the dramatic back. That is SO elegant (and i'm a sucker for dramatic backless dresses!) and yet great for a destination wedding. I'm not feeling the second one...I know that model is skinny but she looks swamped in that material and it adds extra weight where no woman wants it...=]
The first one is really elegant. The second it pretty, but kind of trendy. It would help to see you in the dresses. As I approach 30 my weight has shifted to certain places that would make the first one less flattering. :(
Hi Cakegal! I'm in a similar situation as you (destination elopment, wanting a simple dress). Where did you find these?
I also vote for the first dress but mainly b/c the second just isn't my taste. But I think both are nice.
Haha, Rachelss - I am right there with ya! I'd in good shape but I'd need some major spanx to go with dress 1. But since cakegal is a size 0, I'm betting that won't be a problem. :)
I love the first one...it's simple and elegant. The second one has too much going on for my taste.
Cakegal, I love both but I'm in the minority in that I would go for the second one. For a woman your size (I'm about the same) I think the second one would be lovely and it looks really comfy! All I can think when I see that extra fabric is no spanx needed and you can eat an extra piece of cake!
But again, I'm sure you'll be gorgeous in either.
I am in the minority and will say dress 2. For me personally, I am not a fan of the nightgown/lingerie look of wedding dresses; while dress 2 is still simple, it also has a unique element to it and it seems like you have the figure to pull it off.

Best for last, the 1st dress is Alix and Kelly and the second is Vera Wang. Alix and Kelly has other styles good for destination weddings.
I would also recommend Nicole Miller and Jenny Yoo. Many people like J Crew as well, but I ordered 3 of their wedding dresses and didn't care for them.
Yay for +30 brides. I felt the same way about being indecisive I went back & forth between 2 dresses for a LONG time before I made my decision.
Personally, I like the 1st dress better. Mostly because I wore one similar in navy as a bridesmaid, it is simply gorgeous and I actually HAVE worn it again to another formal function. I love it. Can't wait to see which one you go with!
Bah I'm on my second dress and I'm 31. The dress is the best part of the wedding! For us girls anyway :). I love the second dress. Very romantic.
I seriously may end up picking out of a hat! I have less than 2 weeks to decide, and I just can't pick! I've shown 5 people in my life- 2 picked dress 1, 2 picked dress 2, and the other person couldn't choose.
I really love the first dress! I love the dramatic back and I love that it is very similar to something my FSIL wore at her wedding about a year ago.
I chose #1! I feel very good about it. I will go get measured and order it Monday.

I am having trouble deciding between 2 dresses. We are having a destination elopement followed by a reception back home. I want a wedding dress, but something simple, not too structured and suitable for the location. I am in my mid 30's , in good shape 5'3 (5'7 in heels), size 0.
I feel too old to be so indecisive about my wedding dress!
